Imagine this, you have a dinner party in the evening and you have no time to go to the salon because you are too busy preparing for the party. How awesome would it be to have a stylist meet you at home and get you slayed right before it’s time to meet your guests? If this sounds like a fantasy well pinch yourself because it isn’t, Tressnoire is just that!
Tressnoire is a Philly based company launched in October of 2014 by two friends, Octavia Pickett-Blakely and Regina Gwynn. Tressnoire brings natural hair stylists and services to the clients’ homes, offices or wherever you want to get your hair done.
All you have to do is log on to Tressnoire online and pick your service, the time and date when you are available to get your hair done. You will be assigned a stylist and voila your fantasy is now reality.
This is beyond convenient because as a busy mom myself, I often do not have time to leave just to get my hair done especially If I want to get it done on a regular schedule.
According to Gwynn they are trying to fill a void with a service that is not available to black women with natural hair:
We’re looking at this largely underserved market where women of color spend nine times more on hair care products and services than our counterparts and the convenient kinds of options aren’t available to us,” said. Gwynn.
What the ladies say about their goals:
“A big part of our messaging and a big part of our goal is to make hair care and hair styling convenient, so we have stylists that are available at a variety of times each day and different times in the week week. We offer services at times that are not necessarily traditional times that other salons would be available.”
So far the company is in Delaware, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York City, and Westchester County but with a great reputation and tons of referrals they are trying to expand. One of the great things about this salons other than the convenience is the pricing.
You would think that if a stylist has to travel to where you are, the prices would be through the roof, however the ladies are making pricing a priority trying to keep costs down.
“There are amazing salons in these markets, but I think the other thing that comes into consideration is price,” Gwynn said of her company’s success. “I think sometimes price becomes a bit prohibitive for some women who really just want a great luxury experience, but maybe the wallet isn’t something that they can give over at that time.”
I cannot tell you how cool I think this idea is because it is organised, the business is about women supporting women and if you need a convenient option Tressnoire is perfect for you.
“Whether you become a customer or not, we really are here to empower women and make the path to beauty a lot more easy,” said Gwynn.
