The high bun is definitely in this season as the sun shows us who is boss this summer. Its way too hot to wear our hair out or anywhere near the neck. So many ladies have opted for the infamous high bun and for a simple style it has the versatility of looking elegant for night or easy classy by day. The high bun has a very simple technique that can be used to achieve the style; here are a few tips if you choose to try it on your own hair.
Tip one:
The high bun is best on stretched hair – If you are rocking an old twist-out, wash and go, or braid-out then you have the perfect base to accomplish the high bun. If your hair is in its shrunken state then that can easily be fixed with a few stretching methods.
1. Tension blow dry – This is the fastest method
2. Banding – Band the hair in sections over night
3. Braid the hair in sections overnight
Any of the above methods should work effectively for getting the most length from your hair
Tip Two:
Method 1 – hang your head upside down and gather your hair as if you are trying to achieve a high pony tail, using your favorite goodie band pull the hair through once, twice and a third time not pulling the hair all the way through. By now you should be facing upright where you can fix the bun into your desired look. Don’t hesitate to pin and tuck any loose hairs to ensure that it looks neat.
Method 2 – Repeat method one, however when securing the goodie band pull the hair all the way through on the third go round, making a high pony tail. Separate the pony tail into three sections creating circular motions around the base of the ponytail creating the look of a bun.
Method 3 – use a donut ring to create your bun. You can create a donut using an old clean sock, there are tons of YouTube videos on how to make one and it is super easy. Once you have created the sock donut, place it over your high pony tail and use the loose hair to cover the donut so that the bun takes the shape of your donut bun*.
Tip Three:
If you choose to use a hair head band to secure fly- aways at the crown of your head, apply the band first before your do the bun. The same would apply to a scarf or anything you would choose to wear on the crown of your head.
Tip Four:
Determine your own level of tension, the bun should not be too tight to cause damage to your hairline especially if your wear one often. Make the bun loose enough to keep your hair line loose and tight enough where it doesn’t fall apart in the middle of a date or a meeting!
Tip five:
Accessorize your hair and bun according to the occasion you decide to wear it for. Sometimes a naked bun is just as cute and sexy as one with a lot of blinged out thingamagigs.
