Don’t be too generous otherwise you will make a mess on your bathroom floor! You will notice that the treatment slides on very easily because of the flaxseed gel. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and leave on with or without heat for 30 minutes to a few hours. Rinse thoroughly. You can also co-wash afterwards with a cheap conditioner of your choice if you wish.
This is a very moisturizing treatment but adding the hydrolyzed protein will make it a protein treatment too.
What to expect:
1. After rinsing off, you will immediately notice the super seal that the conditioner leaves behind. Water will just seem to bounce off the surface of your hair which will indicate a great seal.
2. You will be able to do a braid/twist out or even a blow out easily because your hair will be very pliable.
3. Your hair will have a super shine without being greasy.
4. Only flat iron* your hair afterwards if you enjoy the super straight relaxer look. You will get pretty straight hair even at lower temperatures. If you prefer fluffier hair, use the treatment as a prepoo instead.
You will already have seen picture of my blown out hair with and without the caramel treatment, my hair was way softer, smoother and super shiny after the caramel treatment. Styling products used in both cases were the same.
And below is a look at the flat ironing results when the treatment is used as a conditioner or as a pre-poo, not a great deal of difference so feel free to fit it in either place in your regimen.
Notes
1. Choose an essential oil that you like the smell of as you will smell it in your hair all week! If you don’t like the scent of peppermint oil* and just want it’s benefits, this isn’t the place to use it!
2. Alternatively use the treatment as a prepoo. You will still benefit from some shine afterwards but don’t expect the super seal I mentioned earlier.
If refrigerated, the treatment will keep well for around 3 weeks. Just remove from the fridge a couple of hours before you need it to allow it to come to room temperature.

Can I still add the bananas or is the flax seed gel supposed to be a replacement for the bananas in the original recipe?
