When was the last time you were at the beach? Obviously with people experiencing massive amounts of snow all over the world these days many of us are dreaming of beach days and would much rather shovel sand and build sand castles than dig our car out from under snow just to make it to work on time.
When you think about the beach and your hair, you think about how amazingly curly your hair gets after getting in contact with the salt water. Sea hair is no joke, it can look amazing but to be honest the water can be super drying as well especially if you haven’t conditioned your hair before hitting the beach.
Knowing this, I was a little more than curious about a product line called the Garly Whale, that supposedly gives you really awesome beach hair.
Elle from Quest for the Perfect Curl did an outstanding review on the product line which was great and all, but is there really something to consider when you think about the effects of actual sea salt and hair.
To be clear, sea salt from the beach is a bit rough around the edges and just bottling it and spraying your hair with it is not recommended.
But refined sea salt is really what we are referring to when we look at the benefits of sea salt and your hair. This sea salt has been processed a bit and if you purchase a product with sea salt as the main ingredient you will notice other great additives like natural oils* and extracts to enhance it and make it even more nourishing than just bottled up beach water.
Lets get into the benefits
1. Hair growth
Of course when you hear that a product can stimulate growth the first thing you want to know is… how? There is only a one way to influence growth topically and that is through stimulation of the hair follicles. Massaging the scalp with sea salt can aid in blood circulation to the scalp, and the salt strengthens the hair follicles.
