Every time I see a style on YouTube that looks amazing, I always end up asking myself, why in the world didn’t I think of that? Is it that I am not creative enough, or am I just content with a boring bun? It might be all of the above but don’t get me wrong I have been in this business long enough to know what it takes to get those creative juices going.
For one, thank goodness for YouTube, because if we don’t have anything at all at least we have that melting pot of creativity to draw on. We have come to realize that creativity is not a far cry from improvising.
Yep improvise that is the name of the game when it comes to the natural hair hair styling thing. For example not having enough length should never be an excuse in today’s world because we have so many options available to us in the form of extensions*, accessories, wigs* whatever it takes to get the style that you desire.
We thought this hair style by Tiffanynicholsdesign on YouTube was so adorable, she has medium length hair and improvised creating an awesome fro hawk looking updo kinda situation just using some common braid hair that can be found in any local beauty supply store.
Before you watch Tiffany’s video we also wanted to take the opportunity to give you some ideas on how to jolt your creativity when it comes to styling your natural hair. Here goes:
1. Play in you hair all the time, if you have the time, you will be shocked to see what looks fly when you are not even trying.
2. Do not limit the people that you watch on YouTube to just a few natural women, try to include a wide variety of women, with different textures, different races, children. The thing is you never know where you might find your best inspiration.
3. Don’t knock it until you try it, if you do then you will probably miss out on a gem. You might be tempted to turn you nose up at a certain style because it might be outside of your comfort zone, but what if it worked for you? You would never know with that nose in the air!
Now enjoy the video!
