Since I started this website 3 years ago, the site has followed the wisdom and direction that guided me in attaining longer than bra strap length hair in that time. I have given advice based on what has worked for me in the past but I truly believe that BlackHairInformation.com should be a community website where we can all share what works for us. It reminds me of my favourite quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few.
The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods.
The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
If we understand the principles of growing black hair long i.e. moisture, protein & low manipulation we can successfully attain the goal of longer hair via a variety of methods. I have given examples in the past of ladies who have grown their hair to extraordinary lengths doing just what hair gurus tell us not to do! Some will wash their hair just once a month instead of the more accepted weekly wash. Some swear by obscure products with dodgy ingredients that you wouldn’t be caught within 5 feet of. Some even believe that relaxing bone straight is the best kept hair growth secret!
My point is, a little variety never hurt anyone. I enjoy healthy debate and different points of view and as such we have had the pleasure of allowing guest posts from readers and other hair bloggers alike. Here and here as well as the multitude of hair stories and questions from our readers each giving their own point of view. We are now accepting guest blogger posts as a monthly feature of the website.
It seems a lot of ladies visiting this site have relaxed hair and because I’m natural, they think that the advice I give slants towards natural haired ladies. While a lot of my articles are general advice on building regimens, positive thinking and commentaries on products which can help both relaxed and natural heads, I agree that I have way more information for you natural sisters. In the spirit of fairness however, I have listened to your comments and this month we now have guest bloggers who cover both natural and relaxed hair topics.
