3. Spruce It Up
Another favorite tip to bringing life back to your twist outs is to spruce it up and literally switch things up a bit instead of sticking to your usual. This can be anything from parting your hair differently to adding accessories.
Do you always do the simple side part? Consider doing something as simple as parting your hair down the middle. Or try picking up a cute head band or hair pin to add a little flair.
Another way to spruce things up is to play around with difference size twists that you choose to install. Go a little smaller for added definition or a little larger for a push in volume.
For an additional added bonus, you can grab some curly clip-ins that match your hair’s natural curl pattern, texture and color and use it for volume, fullness, and/or length. The possibilities are endless!
4. Try a Different Drying Method
Something we don’t often consider is drying our twist out differently. Most naturals typically install their two strand twists on wet hair and allow it to dry overnight. Again, same outcome.
If you’re not opposed to a little heat, next time sit underneath a bonnet dryer and allow your hair to dry with the assistance of the gentle heat. I notice my curls come out so much more defined as well as a little softer with less frizz. Not to mention I can complete my styling and dry time in about 2 hrs which would normally take me a good 8!
Another option is to using a diffuser* and complete what I like to call a wash twist n’ go. You simply install your twist on damp hair, thoroughly diffuse, style and go! You’ll end up in a nice yummy area between a wash n go and a twist out and your hair will love you for it!
5. Try a 3 Strand Twist Out
Lastly, there is always the option to try something that many naturals have deemed too complicated. And this is a 3 stranded twist out. Typically when you have three strands you are completing a braid or a plait, but it is possible to do a twist out just by wrapping the strands around each other.
Hop on YouTube and follow one of the many tutorials out there that will easily instruct you on how to achieve this style and obtain crazy definition, thus bring life back into your twist outs!

You could also set the twists on rods, rollers or flexi-rods. My favorite style is to set small to medium twists on satin covered foam rollers. I wear the curly twists for a day or two, re-rolling at night and the resulting twistout is beautiful, defined, voluminous and flowy.
