I wrote a post several months ago, detailing my concerns about entering the workforce and rocking my fierce, bold ‘fro. I had just discovered updo’s and felt a lot better about my hair not being the center of attention every time I walked into the room. (Though, let’s face it, no matter how I wear my hair, it always catches eyes.)
Anyway, I got to the point where I missed my curls and I didn’t want to keep hiding them. I felt like I wasn’t being true to myself. Yet, I wanted a sleeker look without having to use heat. Enter curlformers*.
I had the product for about two years already, but they just were lying under my bathroom sink, taking up space. I didn’t realize their value! I don’t know what made me try it one day. Oh yeah, it was the blizzard of 2016 where I was stuck in my apartment for several days! Funny how these things happen.
Now, I’ll be the first to tell you that I use the bootleg version. The name brand curlformers cost more than what I was willing to pay, especially since I needed two full packs. Mine are from Amazon and cost a fraction of the price (though I’m not sure if this version is still available online.)
Regardless if you can find a cheaper version or not, I would say that this product is definitely worth the investment. Here are my top reasons why curlformers* are bae:
1. Uniformity
Many of you ladies are blessed to have mastered flexirods*, but I’ll admit that is one of my least-skilled hair techniques. With all of the shapes, sizes and colors, it’s hard for all of my curls to be on the same page when I use flexirods*. Besides, they never stay in my hair properly and the ends always look janky.
With curlformers, however, there is a sure process of how to install them. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a piece of cake! You just slide that sucker up the rod and ta-da! The curl is locked in place.
2. Sleekness
Is this a word? Well, it is today! Several women have come up to me and have assumed that I used heat to achieve my style. The curls are more lengthened than when I bantu-knot them and they’re a lot bigger. They also actually lie down instead of sticking up all over the place!
Part of this magical experience could be the fact that I use ORS Olive Oil* Wrap Mousse to set the style, so, you might want to pick that up, too, but I still like to attribute the sleekness to the curlformers themselves.
they are so expensive
I got the dupes on ebay for 17 dollars. I just bought the curlformers hook it works better.
The package has a Caucasian woman on it
You’re welcome and yaaas ?
I have them in sizes and lenghts, they are expensive, but is a good investment. A great look, rough to sleep in.
