Saving anytime is great, but when it comes to products and styling tools it’s especially fun and rewarding. These tips will legit save you money so you can keep your hair just right.
Bulk Buying
When we think about buying in bulk, we usually think about household items or groceries. Large chain stores that specialize in bulk buying have taken over. Almost everyone is familiar with the idea or has even taken up shopping in bulk because it saves time and it definitely saves money.
Bulk, however, is not just for your toilet paper needs or bulk rice. There are sites now that carry inventory in hundreds of categories. Think Amazon level categories. Those sites offer hair products and hair tools that are from the brands and names that we trust in the black hair community.
I first learned about these types of sites when I grew annoyed with local beauty supply stores constantly running out of the larger sized containers of my favorite styling gels. I took to the internet and was amazed at when I found iHerb.
Buying products like shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers and even wrapping strips in bulk saves many, many dollars over the course of a year. And if you are worried that the products will be ones you’ve never heard of, fear not. They’ve got it all.
To date, I haven’t found any local brick and mortar stores that carry black hair products that sell to the public in bulk, but I will continue to search for one.
Order Online From Niche Sites
There are sites that carry the exact same shampoo or flat iron* you see in a mainstream beauty store, for up to half off.
The first thing most people gripe about when it comes to online ordering is shipping fees. This can be a deterrent, but let’s break it down.
If you purchase an item from a store that normally costs you $25.00 + tax, you are walking away having spent around $26.00 or $27.00. Now, let’s say you purchase that same item online for $12.50 from say Jet.com. Even with the shipping fee of, let’s say $4.00, you are paying $16.00 or $17.00. Either way you slice it
Even with the shipping fee of, let’s say $4.00, you are paying $16.00 or $17.00. Either way, you slice it you are are saving a ton of money and over the course of a year, you can really see the dollars add up.
