Take Advantage of Rewards Programs
Not every store offers rewards programs, but if the store you shop in does, you should be signed up. Many companies offer additional coupons to rewards program members and several will allow you to use your rewards points in store and online.
Again, it may seem like chump change when it’s only 1 or 2 dollars, but we buy hair products and tools regularly throughout the year and those small amounts can add up to savings that you may otherwise overlook and miss.
Stack Deals
You don’t have to be in the running to be cast on Extreme Couponing to take advantage of stackable deals. Many retailers will allow you to stack coupons with current specials or even one coupon that is in current rotation in their advertisement and one you get for being a Rewards Member (see #3 above). This is like hitting the jackpot because the savings end up being unbelievable.
Popular beauty retailers like Ulta offer rewards points to members each time they spend money in the store or online. They are also infamous for sending out coupons. The two deals are stackable. For the smart shopper, these are the best times to purchase styling tools, as those tend to be on the pricier end of the spectrum when it comes to hair care.
Also look out for coupons that offer money off an entire purchase. With those coupons, you can set yourself up for the year by purchasing several higher priced items, using your rewards points, using your coupon and deducting the additional percentage from your total. Bingo! That’s money in the bank.
What makes this process hassle free is that most, if not all, retailers are now able to scan bar codes that are on your mobile device. What this means is that with just a few clicks on your smartphone you can pull up your coupons and rewards points and make checkout a breeze.
My last two bonus tips when it comes to ways to save on styling products and tools for your hair include keeping an
ongoing list of what you need and then prioritize your list. This gives you a clearer picture of what deals will be most cost effective. It also cuts down on impulse buys that result in your bathroom cabinets looking like the lost and found bin.
And finally the last tip, return items that didn’t work out for you which might seem like a no brainer but some of us often hold on to products that do not work instead of cashing in so this tip is still worth mentioning.
