Have you guys seen this video yet? I didn’t until today and I could not help but smile and think back to my own super short transition.
We all cannot claim that trasitioning is easy and on top of that we all cannot give the same advice to everyone because everyone’s transition is different.
We have touched on this topic at least once every month every year since natural hair was a thing because we know how vital the information is for a woman tryng to maintain her hair while transitioning to natural hair.
Should you big chop?
The best answer we can give you is ‘maybe’, for some women dealing with two textures is a downright nightmare, not because they are doing anything wrong but because of how difficult it is to maintain two textures.
I have very very fine strands so the tangling was unreal, I was losing more hair than I wanted to during my transition so I had to big chop and fast!
What do you do when things get hard?
Walk away for a bit, put some twists in, put your hair in a bun and go do something else. So many of us get mad at our hair as if it has some sort of separate personality. In a sense it does and it is very consistent in how it does its thing.
The moment you start making your hair do something it doesn’t naturally want to do, that’s when the problems start. To be honest, transitioning might just be one of those things.
Not that you should not have natural hair, but maintaining relaxed heavy ends on light curly roots is not ‘normal’ for your hair. Lets just be real! This is why we have so many techniques and suggestions on how to deal!
