Ok, thanks for clarification! Again I think it is a nice weave and the young lady looks very young! Compliment!!!
Anissa Blumberg says
am I the only one who hates it? I mean come on, can’t we just innovate on our natural hair and not on “how to fake the caucasian hairstyle?” just sick of it! I mean, Black women are beautiful but still we don’t accept our full self and focus on being beautiful the way we really are… I mean in a world where black women would not wear weave all the time as a must for beauty, this would look ridiculous. I mean, she’s copying white people’s hair fooling us. That’s just sick. But I am not hating, but sometimes it’s just too much
Chydonna Chambers says
Anissa I’m natural and I wear my hair with versatility, which means I wear weaves at times too, does that mean I don’t value myself as a black woman? No it simply means, I’m happy with who I am and therefore I choose to versatile with that. Paz don’t rag on women who choose to wear their hair differently simply because you don’t like it. How about next time just saying,
Sopirinyé Diri says
Oh please. Just because someone wants to wear their hair straight or wear a straight weave doesn’t mean hate themselves or want to be more European. I think it’s ridiculous to get that worked up over a simple hairstyle. Straight hair isn’t a race exclusive style.
NeeCee Simmons says
girl bye
Melissa Broek says
I have curls, but sometimes I want to wear straight hair. I do not want to damage my hair so I wear a straight U-wig so I only have to straight the middle front of my hair. I absolutely do not hate my hair, but I do hate it when I have heat damage or breakage so that is why I wear a weave sometimes
Erica Atara Jones says
I agree Chydonna Chambers! I absoultley love my natural hair. However, there are times when I just don’t want to deal with it. So, for those times I wear weave. Also, with my hair, the more I leave it alone in a style and keep it moisturize, the more it grows. Also @Anissa Blumberg, other races wear weaves too, why not call them out? Every race is beautiful and have the way they do things. Just relax and let them LIVE ! 😉
Evelyn Wise says
Who cares if you have natural or if you like weaves, its called being versatile when you want to be.
Miranda Jett says
I wear weaves not because I hate my natural hair, but because I love it and I want it to be protected. I love versatility whether straight, wavy, or curly. But LAWD knows, I surely do love my Blackness.
Patrice Dynastys Mummy Miller says
i get what you are saying but to be honest, i put my weave in and take it out again but it is really hard to manage when my own hair is out. having children a job and various other things to do whos got time to be spending time on hair when you need to get out the door quick. i wear my own hair with pride and i am sure most women out there do too but we just dont have the time to maintain and i dont believe in putting chemicals in my hair either
Mariah Riddick says
U couldn’t wait to preach huh
Wendy Jean-Louis says
Girl shut up you found stupid. People put weave for various reasons. Historically blsck women love changing their hair. And besides the fact insinuating only Caucasians have softer textures hair is freaking ignorant. Black people come in all colours and hair textures as well. F****** hair nazis. Ever thought that some people put weave to save time. It’s get up and go
Felicia Hamilton says
I get what you are saying, I don’t see white women lining up for our natural hair styles to be weaved in their heads. Because they understand they set the trends, not us!
Anissa Blumberg says
My point is why don’t we innovate based on our natural looks, based on us and not based on the caucasian style. You gotta admit that most weaves are straight, and it’s always about straight hair. Promoting new weaves based on our texture would be a difference. I am not hating, I have wore weaves before and I understand “versatility” changing hair once in a while is nice but it’s mostly straight hair that is promoted and that is my point. And please, stop hating or insulting, I was just giving my opinion, something that we are allowed to do and insulting is not going to level up any discussion
TyCeria Williams says
Someone always turns something into a race argument, and this has to be one of the dumbest smh it’s just hair
Anissa Blumberg says
It’s not just hair. Hair is part of what makes a woman who she is, a sign of beauty, how she wants to be perceived. It is a page promoting Black’s hair, our hair. We DO spend tons of money, like every month for hair.
Jordann Allen says
Black people have been wearing hair extensions since ancient egypt. 😡
Lerato S'thando Kgosane says
Go ahead and racialise everything..->> its honestly not our fault that other races can’t and don’t wear afro wigs/ weaves. We are very fortunate to have such versatile hair, hence some pipo perm their hair and some grow it natural. There no right there’s no wrong there. If a woman feels confident with weaves/wigs, perm and/or natural hair then she is entitled too. I just don’t get why naturalists are too quick 2 judge women who aren’t natural, whereas those women dnt judge us – THAT’S WRONG! Perhaps u seceretly dnt love ur own hair.
Najee Newton says
the beauty of black hair is, in some ways, its versatility. i love that it looks great as a fro, curled, natural curls, straightened, braided, twisted, and locked up. its amazing how we can so easily change the appearance of our hair. it’s all beautiful. if you want to use synthetic hair, go ahead. i only care that it’s healthy. also, confidence comes from being comfortable with your appearance. if you like the way your hair looks, it’s like the icing on the cake of a wonderful day.
Jennifer Price says
The thing to remember is EVERYBODY is imitating somebody in one way or another. Even if it IS true that black women who wear weaves hate themselves, what is it when white women go to the plastic surgeon to get bigger butts and hips and lips and breasts? My sister, EVERYBODY changes it up every now and then – it ain’t just black women and their hair. Be blessed!
Simone Townsend says
Annissa i dont know why every one jumping on you but i understand what you’re saying. why cant we be happy nappy? historically it has been ingrained in us that everything about us is inferior. the way we speak, our dress even down to our hair!! some people perm their hair yes because its easier to manage but others jus wanna be as close to the ‘white’ look as possible.
#EveryOneIsEntitleToTheirOpinions

Michelle Clark says

Anissa Blumberg at one point of time their was a lot of different brands weaves that goes with our natural hair texture, the problem was they wasn’t selling so now companies just promote what customers want, natural hair is coming back in style so we might see it more in a couple of years, think it’s best to grow Ur own doe.
Apryl Byrd says
I understand hair art but if black ppl put as much$$$ and time into caring for their own natural hair…they would have some of the most thickest, longest beautiful hair on the planet! Thats sad…now the little girl is going to get complements on the weave that she ddnt get on her natural hair and wn she goes back to natural and short she will feel insecure and less pretty!! Smh

Why do you continue to promote ‘fake hair?” Your website is called, “Black Hair” (not Black Hairstyles). There is nothing more beautiful than someone’s natural hair. And knowing where all of the fake hair comes from (dead people, very poor women in other countries who have to sell their hair for money, etc.) makes me cringe. Stop being so lazy!! Work with your own hair and make it look desirable. When I first saw the picture of the little girl, I thought, “that’s really pretty!” Then when I realized it wasn’t her own hair, my opposing demons surfaced. It’s great to teach children to love themselves. However when you have them with fake hair, it’s sending out a message that their own hair isn’t good enough and the only way to look better is to slap on a weave, wig, etc. I wore a weave before and the first time my boyfriend detected it, that was one of the most embarrassing moments. I know that it’s one of the latest things right now, but ok already, let’s get past it!!!! Wearing protective styles DO NOT include weaves —- wigs would be fine, but NOT always — Geesh! let your own hair breathe. Also, you’re making the foreign manufacturers RICH while you go broke. Wake Up! Stop it! Be Proud Of Who/What You Are! Stop being phoney and using the excuse, “oh this is my protective style.” What’s it protecting you from? Taking care of your own hair? Sure, other nationalities wear weaves also, but the question is, “do they really need it? Are they wearing it because they can’t grow their own hair? Or just trying something new?” My sister had waist length hair and she foolishly had a weave put in (because she wanted thickness). When she ‘finally’ had the weave taken out, her hair was shorter than mine (shoulder length). She was horrified and was eventually told (by the stylist who put the weave in) that the excess stress and pull from the weave and lack of oxygen to the scalp was what caused her hair to fall out. She now has no edges and is forced to wear wigs to hide the disgusting damage. My suggestion is that IF you feel the need to wear a weave, then please do it in modesty (don’t keep it in forever) and request that the stylist do not put it in your hair TOO TIGHT. You may look great for a temporary time, but at the end of the day, you know that it’s not your own hair and you’re living a lie. All for what? Food for thought: While at work one day, we were having lunch outside on the cafeteria balcony. One of the ladies had a weave (we all knew) but since it was her decision we said nothing about it. It was very windy that day, but the climate was nice. A strong wind came and blew her hair loose. At that point you could see the tracks. She didn’t have a clue and everyone was secretly making fun of her. I nudged her and told her what we saw. She made a quick B-Line back into the building and left early that day. She must’ve been SO embarrassed! Of course, the gossip started and folks were saying things like, why do we always have to be fake; her hair is a nice length so why is she wearing that smelly weave, etc. Some I believe were just jealous of how nice she looked, but most were serious and they wore their own hair All Of The Time and looked very presentable. On another note, why do you think that some people ask if they can touch your hair? Honestly, some of them simply want to see if your real hair and if it’s not, then they have something to joke about. A protective style was originally when a person had their own hair braided and they wore a wig for about a week and then each week they would unbraid their hair and wash/condition it and then wear the wig again. Also, they would have their wigs CLEANED! You can’t really do that with a weave. The hair textures generally won’t match under those circumstances. Stop showing the world that you’re ashamed of who you are and making the weave industry rich. Wake up, wake up!!
Habitual Line Stepper says
was this a natural hair debate or was it a weave post? i’m confused.if it was a natural hair vs real hair post i’d understand more.people are entitled to do their hair anyway they choose.give credit where credit is do….this sew in came out nice. i’m not personally a fan of it but it still came out dope.
Till A Bean says
It’s not faking the Caucasian hair. It is just trying something different. I am natural and shoot I want it to just give my hair a break. matter of fact most of her hair is in a protective style. No I can understand you not liking it and of course we can say what we want. But I am just saying I disagree with your comment.
Pretty Brownbrown Walker says
Not true I know plenty of black woman wuth hair down to there butts and most Caucasian women I kno hair is just below bra strap length..smh when will we stop with the stereotypes????

Natural Nazis. No one bats an eye when a Caucasian women dyes her hair every color of the rainbow, but a Black woman gets relaxers, all the sudden she is insecure and is not accepting of herself.
It’s just hair, and each women wears their hair the way they see fit, no matter the ethnicity.
Danah DeGrate says
Is this a little girl? I have to ask why anyone would be sewing hair into a child’s head. Natural styles would be just fine
