Protective style, but half of her own hair is out and of course has to be straightened over and over again to make sure it matches the texture of the weave. So its not really that much of a protective style is it?
Its not even that. I wish people would just be real with themselves and just say that they wear weaves or someone else’s hair because its less mess. Our own natural hair takes a lot of work to keep straightened and a lot of women like the straight hair look. Hell I like straightened hair too but I’m not about to call a half weave a protective style because its really not.
My hair was short and started doing sew ins and my hair grew alot…i cant wait to start getting my sewins again…my hair grew fast….i had both sides and my back cut close long on top and now my hair is on my shoulders…
She did grow her own hair..it appears long, full, and healthy. I have alot of hair and hate dealing with it. It gets tangled in my earrings, swells from humidity, a lot to deal with to keep healthy. Weave allows you to do what you please without dealing with your real tresses?
Sounds like an oxymoron, you have long lovely hair yet don’t wanna deal with it? Girl you blessed, show tye, world your lovely hair, instead of spending time and money on hair that ain’t your own. Not wanting to deal with your lovely hair, is a good problem to have
Me too!!!!! I have to be able to touch it. Omg, that was my first thought…. She must have no itch problems cause I could never do that braid pattern. Even a hair pin couldn’t help me out! Lol ???????
I don’t know a thing about weaves, my question is why is there a braid around the edges, what if she wanted to pull it back or wear an updo… just curious
Mostelikely she only did that so that hair wouldn’t get in the way when she braided the middle and once she did the middle she took that part down and pressed it. That’s what my hairstylist does

And just curious, why does it seem like only or mainly black women are into protection styling?
A style that protects your natural hair from damage which include heat, chemicals and harsh elements such as the sun and the wind.

I have long healthy “natural” hair and will wear weave from time to time. Occassionally I like it straight but my natural hair will not stay straight.
