Since when are Shirley Temple cheeks “grown up”… That’s our problem. We spend too much time judging and trying to tell other people how to raise their kids. Maybe she had a pageant, a dance, a performance and pig tails just weren’t going to cut it.
Sometimes you need people to see your blindspots and point things out that you may have overlooked. It’s still a parent’s choice at the end of the day, but at least it’s been pointed out. Everyone is so quick to call it judging just because someone’s actions have been challenged but sometimes people are just trying to help.

I don’t see this as grown. I’ve seen this hairstyle on kids and adults of all ages. The length of hair is probably what is bothering you. If she had 6 inches vs 16, in the same hairstyle, what would the major difference be??

Jones April I had long hair like this as a child . My mom only straighten and styled it like this for special occasions, because it was a lot of work. If , it wasn’t I would have liked to wear it down daily like a lot of the other girls in school , the only difference was their genetics gave them “care free hair” It’s such a trip how some people feel that a black girl must be 21 to wear her hair down. Lol! I think they get so angry, because they know that it’s this black child’s real hair.

Little girls of other ethnicities with different hair textures and longer lengths wear their hair down all the time with no criticism or backlash.
