I think we’ve all been there; ducking a workout in order to maintain that gorgeous halo of curls we worked so hard to achieve.
Yes, I’m definitely guilty of this, and maybe some of you are too. But you should know there are many ways you can have your cake and eat it too.
First, let’s see why it’s necessary to maintain an active lifestyle. Remember, these tips are great for naturals and relaxed ladies.
Physical activity is great for hair!
Sometimes you may think working out is a chore, but please don’t keep this mindset. Physical activity increases blood flow to skin, scalp, and muscles.
It also releases serotonin, which aids in reducing stress. When we sweat, toxins exit the skin via our pores. This is great for overall healthy skin and scalp. When you think about it, exercise is a lot like meditation.
When we don’t exercise, you are most likely susceptible to higher stress levels and your body produces cortisone. This affects the body and hair follicles in a negative way and stress can impact hair volume and growth. When you include exercise in your life, you’re opening yourself up to a happier, healthier you.
Kill a demon today, dance with the devil tonight.
You’ve had all day to rock your style, now it’s time to pay your due. Plan your workouts if you want to sport your cute natural “do” in the evenings.
The night before you may have invested the time in twisting or braiding your hair along with perm rods* on the ends. Perhaps you’ve decided on a nice roller set.
The next morning you probably have to take your hair down to take the kids to the bus stop in the morning before going to work. You may want the entire day to rock that style the way you want.
So, whether you’re an entrepreneur who must meet with a few clients each day, or you work a regular 9-5 job, you have that chance to rock that do.
Unfortunately for some of us, we start to wind down after a long day at the office or maintaining our own businesses. By the time you come home, help prepare dinner, tend to the kids, or anything else that needs to be done, you’re probably too pooped to do Insanity or lift weights. But that’s okay. If you hate working out at night, let’s try switching that workout regimen to the mornings.
