Are you in the market for a new conditioner? If you’re like me, you may co-wash your hair often, and you’re not always in the mood to shell out tons of dollars for something that will last no longer than a few weeks.
However, at the same time you want to make sure that you are getting a decent quality product and not just using anything in your hair.
So, with that being said, what are some good cheap conditioners to use? We’ve got you covered! Keep reading for five of our favorite cheap conditioners, that you can find anywhere from in the hair aisle to Amazon. Comment below and tell us what your favorite cheap conditioner is!
Co-washes are a great way to wash your hair without totally stripping it of its natural oils*. Personally, As I Am* was one of my first products when I started my healthy hair journey.
This co-wash has a light coconut* scent, and it contains ingredients that both cleanse and condition hair. It also leaves hair with minimum breakage in detangling. Make sure to follow this co-wash with a rinse out conditioner to finish your wash day process.
VO5 just so happens to be a favorite among many naturals, simply because it’s so cheap. You can find a bottle of VO5 conditioner at some stores for $1 or less.
The thing about VO5 is it might be hit or miss depending on the density of your hair. Some ladies find that it has just the right amount of slip, while others combine it with an oil of their choice to add the extra slip they need. VO5 also has an array of sweet, candy like fragrances that many people like.
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration is one of my personal favorite cheap conditioners, especially since they have sample sized travel bottles that are perfect for whenever you’re on the go.
With a sweet tropical scent, this conditioner has a great mixture of slip and detangling skills that’s worth it. After applying to wet hair and leaving it on for two to five minutes, knots and tangles literally melt out your hair. The price is a little steeper than VO5, it still normally sells for under $5 (around $4.25).
Tresemme Naturals is a great bang for your buck, especially if you know you wash often or need a bigger quantity of conditioner.
There are two different lines in the natural brand, they are Nourishing Moisture and Radiant Shine. You can purchase a 25oz bottle on Amazon for only $8.50. Some sellers also have bundle deals, where you can get more product for the price of one.
Aussie Moist was another of my favorite cheap conditioners, but unfortunately my hair started to not like it as much. Aussie Moist Conditioner has a nice smell and a thick consistency.
It works through tangles and leaves hair feeling moisturized afterwards. Their 3-minute miracle deep conditioner* is also a great product, while some naturals opt for using that as a normal rinse out conditioner instead.

I go through a liter of Tresemme about once a month. It works great for my mixed hair maintenance. Every 3 months I’ll go to a salon for a hot oil treatment and silk press and trim.
