Yolanda Hill it’s the advertising standard, they want us to think that this is the holy grail and what we should aspire to be. Smh. I’m 4c and very happy with mine…… Just wish I had more of it lol
Maybe biracial women should stop calling themselves black since it’s such an issue and they are never black enough to be included in black forums. Although, most of these women look typically African American to me. Because of slavery, most of us are “mixed”, but if you have an issue with “mixed” people invading the sacred black space, maybe petition for them to be relabeled. We didn’t ask to be born this way any more than you did.
Oh please. Mixed black people are over represented in every black space. No one is mad at them for being mixed. We’re mad because the vast majority of the black population does not look like that and yet they are cast as the standard we must aspire to. It’s about centering the most oppressed people ie the darkest, kinkiest haired women. The ones that got called cockroach and monkey and we’re told they have bad hair. We deserve a space where we see ourselves. Stop taking up space and stop whining. Not all black is created or treated equal.
Marquessa Henry is equall in my books but just not treated as such in the winder community. Very complex issues we have here. FYI I’m not African American….. I’m British Caribbean. I have lots of mixed, bi-racial family and it’s not up to us or anyone else to “label them”
Just to clarify, as we seemed to have gone off on a tangent….I (We) feel unrepresented in the media as mid-brown to the deepest chocolate black-brown hue also hair Textures of the 4b,c and beyond are not seen as desirable when the majority of the black community has this growing out of their heads. That’s basically it. ? no need to get it twisted. ? x
