2. Steam it
Steaming your hair prior to even getting into the shower is another great way to get your hair to relieve itself of chronic dryness and tangles.
Apply your deep conditioner* as explained in point on and either create your own steam by covering your head with a plastic bag and then a warm towel or you can use a steamer* if you have one.
Steaming your hair opens up your cuticles and allows your product to seep into your strands and if you are doing a protein treatment, the protein will heal some of the rough areas of the strand that contribute to your hair feeling brittle and dry.
3. Steam at the gym
This is another way of preparing your hair for detangling and just overall pampering especially if you love using the steam room at the gym.
After your workout, use a light conditioner so that you are not walking around with white stuff in your hair, apply the conditioner all over your hair and pin it up neatly.
The steam room is not only a great way to end your workout you can steam your hair while you are enjoying it as well.
After you are done, if you plan to shower and wash your hair at home, cover your hair with a plastic cap and another cap to maintain the heat and also so you aren’t attracting any stares from other gym clientele until you get home.
4. Hot oil treatment
Oil treatments are great for your scalp especially if we pick great pure oils* like coconut oil*, olive oil* or castor oil*.
They help to heal the scalp, and in addition to that, the oils* help to create slip between your strands making your hair much easier to detangle and wash on wash day. Just apply your oil or oil mix all over your hair, cover, and heat with a heating pad or overhead dryer.
Oil treatments are amazing for those days your hair just needs a little bit of pampering and it can make all your troubles go away.
5. Think positive
So far I have outlined 4 ways you can physically fix your hair so that whatever problems you think your are having can be easily resolved but sometimes it’s all about mindset.
I know when you are faced with a perm box no amount of extra work is going to help with changing your mind so you might have to start with a little preliminary chit chat with yourself.
After all, if we can go to the beauty supply store and talk to a perm box, we should have no issues talking to ourselves woman to woman in the mirror.
Stand in the mirror and try to rememeber all of what you went through to get your hair to where it is now. Know that you cannot fix any of the problems you are looking at with a perm and that you will have to fix your hair either way.
Give yourself some hair love and your hair a little bit of patience and then watch the frustrations float away! What do you do when you are faced with the perm box? Have you ever given in?
