Of course, we all know and love Whitney White, also known as Naptural85 on social media. She is the epitome of natural hair goals and recently became the brand ambassador for Shea Moisture*.
Whitney was in New Orleans for Essencefest like many of the natural hair bloggers and from the looks of things she was having a blast.
Well, the vlogger took to Twitter to share the worse hair touching experience ever. A non-black man gave his wife permission to touch her hair.
He didn’t even ask her if it was ok yall, that’s how demeaning the situation was. When did we get to the point where we can assume that it is ok to violate another human being personal space?

That is the most disrespectful thing I have read all week, it is never ok to touch someone’s hair and worse, give other people permission to touch it.
We are not objects to be fascinated with, the nerve of this guy!
Next time make sure they draw back a bloody stump.
You know it’s considered assault when you touch a pregnant women’s belly without permission, so they should do the same for hair. I would have made a gesture of leaning back and putting my hand up to let them know to stop. or maybe I’d do something just as rude and spit shined his balled head and messed in her hair. Saying I just love you people’s ignorance, now I gt to do this. I get that you’re curious, but ask don’t just reach for it.

After saying thank you the first time, I would have excused myself. When those folks get to drinking they lose their common sense filter.

I would of thrown up my hand. Um, no thanks. I was in the nail salon getting my nails done and an African American woman comes up and tells me she like the tiny curls in my hair and how did I do it, while she reaches over and touches my hair. I almost lost my mind since I didn’t give her permission and was in the middle of a gel set. I was so mad and everyone could see it on my face except the girl. She was like oh, can you help me do my hair like yours? i told her I was new to being natural and I am not a professional so I can’t give her any ideas. That was a lie as I was trying to hold my composure as I was ready to beat the crap out of her. People need to understand that you have to ask permission before touching someone’s hair.
They need to understand you should ask permission before touching anyone intimately …and hair is intimate?
