The Vixen Sew In on Relaxed/Texlaxed Hair
In this tutorial, CornFlakes NoSugar (I just love that name) shows us how to do the Vixen Sew In for relaxed hair with a straight-ish weave. Now, since her model have relaxed hair, there was no need for the hair to be stretched prior to braiding.
Things You Will Need
1. 2-4 Bundles* of Weave of Your Choice- For relaxed/texlaxed hair, it will probably be best to use a straight to loose waves type of weave. Curly or kinky* weave wll not work too well because there would be a stark contrast between your relaxed hair and the weave.
As mentioned before, good quality, human hair will be the best choice for a long-lasting, natural looking sew in. Also make sure that your hair is well-moisturized, strengthened with a protein treatment, and that the elasticity is on point.
Since relaxed/texlaxed hair can be a bit more prone to breakage than natural hair, this is really important to ensure that you have healthy hair before and after your install.
2.Weaving Net– To apply over braided sections and protect and flatten the hair hair for easier sewing.
3. Needle and Thread– To sew in the tracks.
Sidenote: In the video, CornFlakes NoSugar flat irons* and presses the models’ hair. If you would like to avoid heat you can easily straighten your hair via rollerset. However, if you would like to use heat, you can rollerset first than use your flat iron* on a low heat setting to have a less damaging effect on your hair.
Also in the tutorial, the models’ real hair is not in the best of shape health wise. If your hair is extremely damaged, it might be a good idea to nurse your hair back to health before trying this technique, since damaged relaxed hair can be extremely fragile.
Here is CornFlakes NoSugar demonstrating her Vixen Sew In technique on her model!
When it comes to braiding the sections, the smaller your cornrows are, the flatter the weave will be. With this said, you do not necessarily have to make your cornrows the same thickness and width as the ladies did in the tutorials above. You can make your cornrows to the thickness of your liking and comfort.
Additionally you can customize the amount of leave out that you would like to have. Some women have more or less leave out than the ladies above so if you want a little more leave out in the back than in the front, then go for it! This sew in technique is totally versatile and very customizable which makes it a favorite for those of us who need a protective style.
Courtney Gray says
I want to try this so bad but i dont want my hair to break off. Does vixen sew in equal breakage?
BlackHairInformation.com says
You have more hair out than with a traditional sew in but that doesn’t necessarily spell breakage if you care for your hair properly.
Kelly White says
That’s too much leave out for me… It wouldn’t even be a protective style … But it’s nice
Heather Roebuck says
Ashley Ransom
Sydney Shea Jacobs says

Seanna Lexilien says
I want to try it but don’t know how I could having natural 4b/4c hair. What weave would I use that could blend well with my texture?
Bear Amador Farmer Mtz says
OR grow your own hair
Emerald Skye Nelson says
Not everyone’s hair grows very fast not to mention it’s fun and the options are endless:) I personally never had long hair and extensions always were fun. I’m just saying
Kyra Walden Brown says
Seanna you should look up big chop hair they all textures and hautekink and if those are two expensive some Mongolian kinky curly hair brushed out with blow dried 4b hate blends really well
Gabrielle Dupre says
I tried this…..& it’s a lot of work trying to blend ur natural hair with weave. I have a hard enough time doing it when I leave a small patch out (partial sew-in).
B Marlow says
Hey Gabrielle, I’m looking to do this look with just curly remy, no where near my hair texture. I wanted to ask what methods do you use to blend? I really want to try this but with the blending….I don’t know how hard or how much effort I really have to put in/
Jeanne Marie Roseman says
This was awesome! I knew there was a way to install a weave and be able to wear the hair parted, looks so natural! Great vid! Now I have to find someone who knows how to do this!
Kelly White says
Bomb
Shyla Boo says

Carly Cinnamon Owens says
Who can do this for natural hair in NYC?
Lili J says
Where in NYC do you live?
Jeremy Davison says
Yeah
UmmNuhr West says
Unless your hair matches perfectly, it just seems like a big headache. Such a technique is more about the skill of the hairstylist and an excuse to charge more. After the mastering of a front part (whatever version) and a high pony tail, what more do we need?
Maureen Sharps says
Too much hair left out. Kinda defeats the purpose of securing your hair
Neeka Stepoffme Oneal says
Cute
Devona Smith says
Yea that’s the ish……I’ve seen it on IG. I need to study it so I can learn how to do it.
Nedra Hankerson Thomas says
Ty for showing some options..
Will b trying…
Winky Johnson says
To hell with fake hair and weaves
D says
It looks very very good and extremely natural but thats way too much leave out for me. If the goal for me is to tuck my hair away for some time and not be bothered with it ( which is majority of our goals when we get weaves), this wouldn’t be ideal for me. But nonetheless, the style is HOT!
Pamela Wilder says
I Don’t Do Sew In, but this is EXCEPTIONAL Work! 🙂
Shy Kenebrew says
I let someone do one in my head.. It looked NOTHING like this.. Maybe my hair wasn’t long enough
