►Unlimited color and haircut options
In the summer we might be tempted to get some color, well weaves and crochet braids are excellent antidotes for curing “hair boredom” and that color itch.
You know that itch that comes around where you all of a sudden want to dye your hair magenta or rock an asymmetrical haircut? Well you can do that without touching one strand of your own hair, these protective styles can actually save the day.
►Aids in a seamless transition
For our ladies who are transitioning, crochet braids and weaves are a great option for transitioning to natural hair. The options are endless for transitioners because you can allow your hair to rest without manipulation and if you choose a natural style you will get a glimpse as to how your natural hair will look on you.
These styles can also be a great way to ease the new nerves that one might feel especially when wearing a different texture and even new lengths. If you need more time to get used to a natural texture then this is a great way to do it.
Cons
►Edges can literally evaporate (possibility of traction alopecia)
Along with tight box braid extensions* and super tight ponytails, crochet braids and weaves can cause traction alopecia. Tight cornrows and pulling of the edges are the perfect recipe for permanent hair loss. To prevent this from happening, make sure that your cornrows are secure but not tight to ensure that your edges stay intact.
►Hair care neglect
With that get up and go hair, it can make it really easy for you not to not think about your hair at all. Lets face it when you have dream hair every time that you wake up in the morning it’s easy to forget about taking care of your hair underneath your crochet braids and weave installs.
I love crochet braods,it’s so easy to do andto take care of

I’ve done both weaves and crochet braids. Im a cheap person when it comes to weaves so I’ve never paid more than 50 for hair and 50 for someone to do it. And the only reason I paid that much was because it was my first prom. Also I didn’t reuse the hair but crochet braids sometimes i reuse the hair afterward depending on what the hair looks like.
I had latch-hook braids which is basically the same thing and I loved if. It wasn’t as harsh to my hair and it looked great. I was in High school when I got it. it really helped my hair grow cause my hands weren’t in it. I prefer it over weaves.
Who else? <3
Smashing
I prefer crochet braids over sew in. With crochet braids I still have the ability to oil my scalp. Also, I can wear my braids down, put them in a bun or pull some of my braids up. By the time I’m bored, its time to take them down…there’s more flexibility with crochet braids.
