Products
Now for the fun part, what products should you use to create the best twist out ever? Here are my product recommendations all of which are reasonable and easy to find.
Cleanser – Carols Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Sulfate-Free Shampoo
This shampoo does not strip your hair of moisture, it smells awesome and it gets rid of dirt and debris.
Conditioner – TRESemme Naturals Moisture Conditioner
Tresemme is an oldie but goodie, and a staple for many of us. At just 3 bucks, you get a ton of product and your hair gets conditioned beautifully!
Leave in – As I Am Leave In Conditioner
Hands down one of the best leave in I have tried in awhile, you cannot go wrong with this leave in and you can find it on Amazon or in any beauty supply store.
Oil – Elongtress Fancy Oil – Hair Growth Enhancer (Coconut & Almond)
We aren’t trying to toot our own horn or anything but if we are going to recommend and oil this Summer blend is the best sealant you will find out there. It has Castor oil*, Grape Seed Oil and Coconut Oil* to seal the deal literally and figuratively.
Styler – Ecostyler Gel
Eco styler gel* is another staple for many of us, it’s cheap, it works, and it is easy to find. You can use a styling cream if you prefer but for women with kinkier textures, a little Eco style goes a long long way.
How to layer your products
For a bomb twist out you need to layer your products in this order after you cleanse – Leave-in conditioner*, oil, and then styler last. Make sure that your product is distributed evenly over each section before you twist focusing on the ends.
If you are using perm rods* at the end of your hair, smooth the ends over the roller and secure it so that you have no slipping overnight. Allow the hair to dry overnight or under a dryer! We cannot stress to you how important it is to have your hair dry completely, literally there will be no bomb twist out without dry twists.
Once you have done all the twists, cover your hair with a satin bonnet* for sleeping or if this is an intra-day style your only focus is having dry hair.
The next morning, coat your finger tips with just a little oil and unravel each twist carefully before separating. When all of your twists are unraveled then you can start to further separate, pick and fluff to your heart’s desire. Comment below and let us know what your product combination looks like for a bomb twist out!
