What naturalista doesn’t give her curls the night off? A hat or beanie is the perfect way to protect your tresses, especially in the winter.
Simply smooth your edges down with edge control or gel, and either invest in a hat with satin lining, or put on a satin scarf before putting on your hat. This will prevent dryness and breakage from the material rubbing on your strands. If you have earrings or accessories that match, you’re ahead of the game!

The Real Person!
Hi Sybil. If it’s falling out in patches, especially at the root then you will need to see a doctor asap as it could be a sign of alopecia. If you mean that it is breaking then there is lots that you can do to stop it including increased deep conditioning, and making sure that your moisture protein balance is in check.
