Step 5 – The Rinse And The Moisturizing And Sealing
After a deep condition you should rinse out your conditioner thoroughly then use a t-shirt or micro-fiber towel to absorb the excess moisture after which you should add a leave in conditioner* for good measure.
Your leave in moisturizer should always be water based, it can be pre-made in a spray bottle or just something you picked up from the store. Make sure you have full coverage with your leave in, that might mean taking your twists or braids down individually so that you can make sure you apply your leave in conditioner* effectively.
Always seal your hair after you put the leave in conditioner in your hair. You can seal with a heavy oil, a light oil or a butter, whatever your hair prefers. Sealing does not just mean just the ends of your hair but it means the entire length with special attention paid to your ends.
Step 6 – The Styling Session
So what have you decided? Wash and go, braid out, roller set, flat iron*, twist out? You would have probably made that decision before step one, the thing is that with this great wash day, you have already thoroughly set the stage for whatever decision you made.
For wash and go’s, twists or braids you might need a little gel and a spray bottle with water or leave in to set the style and hold your hair in place. If you chose to roller set know that less product is more and keeping your hair wet with a handy spray bottle containing half water and half setting lotion is more than enough to give you a great set.
Flat ironing is its own animal, the less is more concept still applies but you might choose to take some time to air dry your hair in braids before blow drying or flat ironing it straight.
Please do not forget the heat protectant* whether you plan to blow dry, roller set or flat iron* your hair. A silicone or glycerine* based heat protectant* protects your hair from direct heat and minimizes any damage.
Step 7 – Werk
Yes girl after a day like that you deserve to show off your style feeling confident that you have pampered your hair and set a great foundation for the week.
And if you are really feeling fabulous let your other half know that you do not plan to waste ‘this hair’ on a place that does not require reservations. *smile*
