Often we will see a few of our favorite hair gurus say that they only have a major wash day once a month. It is easy to think that maybe that might work for you but at the same time not be sure if that option is best for you and your hair.
There is no one size fits all in hair care, and if you have been with us for a long time you will notice that we have suggested many methods, regimens, pro’s and cons of a variety of popular and unpopular ways of doing hair.
The truth is you will always find someone to give you the benefits of something because most times people are speaking from their own individual experience. What works for them might not work for you but how do you know for sure?
Here are 3 basic ways you can use to determine how often you should wash your hair:
1. Lifestyle
Washing your hair once a month is very dependent on the lifestyle you have. If you work out often and you tend to have sweat and build up on your scalp or use a number of products to maintain your hair, you might find that you will need to shampoo more often.
If you do not get build up then you do not need to wash that often and can stretch your styles and cleanse routine for longer days. A clean scalp is what determines healthy hair!
2. You suffer from scalp issues
If you have dandruff or if you tend to create a ton of sebum causing excessive dry scalp you have to cleanse your scalp the way that your dermatologist recommends.
Chances are you wont be on a monthly regimen but it depends on how severe your issues are. This will be a huge determining factor when deciding how to cleanse your hair and scalp.
3. You are not about that ridin’ dirty life
At the end of the day it comes down to choice, your choices are influenced by a variety of factors but if you really do not have anything driving your decision then it is really just about what you like.
If you prefer to wash your hair once a week then keep doing that. When it’s all is said and done 30 days doesn’t even automatically mean your hair is dirty but if it is and you do not like it, go ahead and get your cleanse on, that simple!
