5. It took a while to figure out what worked
My decision to wash and go primarily during the Summer was not all sunshine, rainbows and unicorn glitter in the beginning. I tested a few combinations and washed pretty often until I got the right combo down.
First day hair was always my favorite but the true test was second and third day hair. This required some commitment and well, frankly a girl’s got things to do.
I did most of my testing at night without distraction until I found what worked, if you aren’t a fan of hours of preliminary testing then you would probably understand why this point made the list.
6. Going out takes a bit of planning
I like my wash and go’s to look a certain way so if I had to go out I would get in the shower and get my process done completely including drying time. If I had to do a quick and dirty, which is most of the time I would do a wet bun instead of a curly wash and go.
This is an ok thing but it limits diversity of styling especially if you are in a rush. Personally I love my buns but if I wanted the option of switching it up, it meant ensuring I carved out the time I would need to do my wash and go from start to finish.
Do not let the name fool you, nobody ever just washes and go’s, I am surprised after all these years we still haven’t come up with another name for it.
7. Tangles
This one worries me a bit because even though it is easier and gentler to finger detangle, that does not get every tangle out of your hair.
Sometimes I will notice these epic tangles that indicate that my hair is under a bit of stress. A trim can help, but constant shrinkage can leave really bad knots especially in fine hair.
This means that I have to pay attention to what my hair is doing, taking the time to do a thorough detangle every now and again, stretching my hair a bit and trimming.
The thing to remember is no matter what your regimen is you will have hang ups and quirks that you have to deal with.
That is the nature of hair care, all you can do is your best to maintain your strands and ensuring that you are meeting your goals, which is always my plan.
Do I love my wash and go’s? Of course I do, but Just like things can get with a ‘bad boy’ boyfriend, there are just a few things that rub me the wrong way and make me tick all at the same time.
With that said what are some of the things you hate about your regimen and what are you doing combat it?
Wet hair touching meeeeee
Oh I HATE that too!!!!!
I hate when my wet hair drips all over my face and shirt . I haven’t done a wash and go since last year . I wear protective styles 90 percent of the time and stretched styles 10 percent of the time . Plus shrinkage , tangles , bad hair , and single strand knots that came with wash and go’s are the DEVIL !
I have a hate/love relationship with my hair too. I hate how my hair doesn’t last after one day and I miss my stretched hair too.
