So if I do a twist out on Monday but maintain it for about three days without twitting my hair back up at night is that low manipulation? I should also be asking if that’s safe on my hair…

Jena Duncan

Yes, that was very helpful. I’m gonna get started on my hair journey!

I guess I prefer the look of low manipulation styles. Like twist outs etc. But protective styling definitely works better for my hair for length retention and overall thickness. May just protective style through the brutal NE winter but for best results I’ve found that protective styling for as long as possible and no heat have given me the best results.

I guess your “protective ” challenge is actually a low manipulation challenge. This is a great article. I have to wash my hair weekly because of my exercise routine. Now I research how to care for my properly since I now know I’m not doing protective hairstyles. Thanks!
