Greek yogurt (or any yogurt really) is an ideal base for any DIY hair mask or cream. Not only does the average 1 cup serving have over 17 grams of protein to strengthen your hair, but it’s great for moisturizing, combating dandruff, and controls frizz after intense dryness. The enzymes found in Greek yogurt also help your hair absorb nutrients which helps a ton when you’re trying to grow your hair in stronger and healthier than before.
Green tea has some amazing benefits, too. When you use it as a natural hair rinse, it stops shedding and stimulates hair follicles; that means that green tea will ultimately help you grow your hair and then retain length! And just like Greek yogurt, it also helps to prevent dandruff.
Manuka Honey(affiliate link) has a ton of benefits, but for this particular recipe, it is used as a great moisturizer and humectant, as well as a scalp cleanser because of it’s anti-bacterial properties.
This Greek yogurt, green tea, and honey recipe is perfect for any of you ladies looking for an effective DIY protein treatment that won’t break your bank.
You Will Need:
2 Cups of Plain Greek Yogurt
1 Tbsp. of Manuka Honey(affiliate link)
1/2 Cup of Green Tea
1 Small bowl
1 Wooden spoon
Dump 2 cups of plain Greek yogurt and 1 tbsp of manuka honey into the small bowl. Mix together until the honey and yogurt are completely mixed into each other.
Then, boil or heat up a cup of water for 2 minutes and then steep the green tea bag for an additional 2 minutes. After the green tea has completely cooled, pour 1/2 of the cup into the yogurt and honey mixture.
The consistency will be slightly thinner, so cool for a maximum of 5 minutes to chill and thicken the mixture a bit.
Apply the mix to freshly washed and detangled hair. Cover with a shower cap(affiliate link) and let sit for 15 minutes. Thoroughly rinse your hair with warm water, dry, and then style as usual.
Voila! You just perfected and used the nutrient packed DIY Greek yogurt, green tea, and honey mask to strengthen and grow your curls, kinks, and coils!
