Introduce yourself..
I’m Brittani! Pleased to meet you queens. I’ve been on this journey for years but this is the first time I’ve ever truly committed to it, and it feels great!
Are you relaxed, natural, texturized or texlaxed?
My hair is Natural
What’s your story, how did you get to where you are?
I grew up having my hair hot combed every two weeks at the salon. When I got older, the only way I really knew how to style it was when it was straight and I hated doing it myself, I began using relaxers when I was about 22 years old.
Last year my husband and I had a daughter, she passed away, but he always encouraged me to return to natural and use only natural products. When I found out I was having a girl, I could think of no better way to raise her with self love than to embrace my natural hair and lead by example. She passed away 2/4/2013, the same day she was born, and I haven’t had a relaxer since before then, so I guess I’ve been transitioning for a year.
Yesterday, I had had enough of maintaining two textures, so I cut off the remaining processed ends and I have never felt so free! It was a release I truly needed after a difficult year. I love my hair!
What is your typical weekly regimen?
I prepoo once a week with a homemade mixture ( mayo, conditioner, olive oil*, honey*, egg) then shampoo, condition, and deep condition/oil rinse on wash day. I usually do a flat twist out or rod set.
I try to moisturize and seal nightly (spray bottle with oil, aloe vera gel*, water and a little leave in, followed by a butter), and usually need a co wash mid week to switch up styles. I use satin scarves and bonnets to maintain my styles between washings.
Are you happy with your progress so far?
I am very happy with my progress so far! Before, I felt like changing my hair texture was the only way it could look nice, now I know my hair is beautiful just the way it grows out of my scalp!
What’s your signature style?
Lately it’s been a side parted flat twist out, but I do love my flexi rod* sets as well!
How do you ensure that your ends are protected from the elements and your hands?
I keep them off my clothes as much as possible, I seal with grease when I need to, pin it up into protective updos, and try hard not to touch it during the day!
Do you have a goal length or are you more concerned about the health of your hair?
I don’t care how long my hair is right now, I know the better care I take of it, the healthier it will be and the more length I will retain. One day, however, I would love to get back to shoulder length or longer.
Is there anything that you hair hates?
My hair hates exposure to stylers like gel or mousse if I use them without a nice thick leave in to prevent drying
Do you have any favorite hair products?
I love Eco Styler Gel*, Cantu Shea Butter Leave In*, African Pride deep conditioner*, Doo Gro Thickening Growth Oil, and Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer.

Beautiful!
Thank you!
What products do u use? My hair stays dry
I use several different products, but I like Shea Moisture, oyin handmade, and cantu lately. If you spray with a mixture of water, aloe vera gel, olive oil and castor oil and then put a cream and an oil on it and try to twist it up at night that will help retain moisture, also the ghe method is one of my favorites, youtube it!
I DO THIS MYSELF BUT IT TAKE FOREVER TO DRY AND IT ONLY LAST A DAY OR SO WHEW . I AM ALL NATURAL JUST UNDER A WIG , SMH . I NEED SOMETHING THAT WILL REALLY ADD MOSTIER TO MY HAIR
Cute
