Allegra Cain says
Honestly….i CANNOT agree with this technique!! Forst of all if u cant braid short hair, then u need to tear uo ur cosmetology licence, cause u not good for ish…n secondly…i think we all know as black women at least by now…rubber bands are NOT GOOD FOR OUR HAIR!! Matter of fact..neither are sew ins! As u can see…the model has no hair to leave out aa it is…smh
Shanice Lee Kai says
Sew ins are good for your hair. Most ppl never take care of their hair or the weaves.
Allegra Cain says
Well….i guess thats true…for some women? Cause alot of women…like u said, do not take care of their hair or weave…unfortunately. but in my opinion…just find the proper way to nourish n protect whats yours. ….n a sew in will b an option n not a necessity.
Tonja Manigo says
Agreed Shanice Lee Kai. If you have a good stylist that cares about the health of your hair, it will grow with a sew in. I have healthy APL hair thanks to my stylist and sew ins. New goal is BSL!!
Renee Washington says
Well said! I’m not a stylist and i grew my daughter’s relaxed hair to shoulder length wigh rubber bands. The trick is not to tight and not letting them stay to long on the hair in one position.
Victoria Allen says
Yea,,
and also with the weave after a while the rubber bands will pop but the sew in is still secure . …
I had no hair at first now its way full and mini bob length
Exquisite Diamond says
Rubberbands are no nos this method seem too harsh for any ones hair
Emma Holmes says
Old I been doing that to my hair cause I can’t braid
Brianna Barksdale says
That’s ridiculous this is why black women are going bald tryna look like Europeans
Ricketta Savage says
Exactly smh
Ashley Butcher says
Ugh now I want my weave back hahaha great new technique tho
Charnique Williams Neka says
OMG if them rubber bands be to tight will have the worst headache and her scalp will be filled with sores…but it looks really good
Sivon Lockhart says
This looks like it would be a nightmare to take down. The end result is nice though.
Dyamond Letgonletgod Davis says
This isn’t new but nice
Dyamond Letgonletgod Davis says
I’m pretty sure you can enter change for the thin hair ties
Nicky Moody says
Oh noo
Briana Thomas says
Um her hair is long enough for braids
Shanice Lee Kai says
It’s long enough to braid. My hair use to be that length and it’s still growing with sew ins
Solange Mayers-Samuel says
Yup it is long enough for braids exactly what I thought
Kimberly Beard Dorsey says
Always coming up with new and inventive ways to damage your hair…
KJ Styles says
Being that i am a Hair Stylist myself, i can’t agree with this method. Rubber bands cause thinning and breakage know matter how you put it! You can do what ever you prefer, but my suggestion to you, is if you want to have hair underneath you weaves stick to the braiding technique.
Reenie Scarlotti says
I thought braiding was healthier anyway…I’m with you
KJ Styles says
It is people tend to think braiding also damage your hair. Truth is it can be damaging, however that all depends on how tight the hair is also the method used to take them down. Alot of people don’t understand when they’re taking down their braids it better to condition they hair the comb it out wide tooth comb. If you don’t use this method then of course it will look as if the damage occurred from the braids. Another thing is if your braids are to tight around your edges of course they will be pulled out, but once again its not the braids Its the braider!
KJ Styles says
I know that was a long reply but not only was it in response to you but also a response for those who may not know the actual cause of damage.
Reenie Scarlotti says
Thank you for that information. I am natural…have been going on 3 years now. Weaves always made my hair grow, if I ever start back I will follow your method. How long have been a stylist? And your post wasn’t too long at all loved it
KJ Styles says
Thank you!!! I am glad i could help, and I have been a stylist for 15 year’s.
Reenie Scarlotti says
Wow long time!!! You sound like you know what to do, which is what we need!!!
KJ Styles says
Healthy hair is my thing. Alot of people do it for the money, meaning the will do what method their client ask. I’m the type if i know it will damage you real hair, im sorry but i cant do it. I refuse to put my name on something that will make someone question my craft. All of my clients have healthy hair and if it short it is short by choice, but it’s healthy!
Melinda Lovinglife Barber says
I didn’t think this was a good idea rubber bands cause breakage.
KJ Styles says
I couldn’t agree more.
KJ Styles says
Yes i am! I would love to have you as a client!
Espéré Bénéditus MaGdaléna says
I’m agree too but there is people like me who doesn’t know how to braid….so rubberband could help me to comb my hair myself
KJ Styles says
I understand people want to do their hair themselves, and some may even want to save money, but just know sometimes taking the easy way out can cause you damage in the long run and in some case balding. I hope the rubber band method works in your favor.
Akina Jones says
Girl I literally watched this 10 mins ago
Apreia Lucas says
She lost me at rubberband. The girl she’s doing it on doesn’t have any hair and she’s about to rip out the little she has left
Gloria Egbunike says
And for the fact that she states it lasts just as long as a normal braiding technique makes it a bit pointless..
Lisa Rose-Broyles says
This method was introduced by a stylist called She’s International in the 90s. The same method has also been done with weaving thread instead of rubber bands. The reason I think it’s not so popular is the possible damage from the rubber bands.
Kaci Wallace says
Nope nope nope to all of those rubber bands
La Familia says
Thanks I won’t I will stick to the braids lol
Kaci Wallace says
Yes indeed! I braid my own and do my own sew ins trying to hold on to my hair lol
Shatica Johnson says
Looks pretty simple!
Pamela Ramatu Olarewaju says
Beautiful!
Damia Gordon says
Haha awesome
Shanice Lee Kai says
She has enough hair to braid. But she’s stupid to use rubber bands knowing it’ll take her hair out.
Charita Porter says
Naw this is asking for no edges
Lonique Renee Brooklyn Ryan says
Rubber bands burst out after a while, I don’t like this method
Myesha Baker says
Naw rubber bands rip your hair out
Lon Trenia says
Nooooooo nooooo rubber bands geeesh ppl
Roxanne Pinkston says
These sew ins were meant for theatrical performance not for every day use. #doingthemost
Ariane Smiley says
This isn’t “new” I taught this to my cosmetology students back in 2011 … This is not a good technique I would consider using for a sew in… The rubber band tugging at the hair and is too damaging
Latrice Butler Fulton says
I already know how to do that, haha your late, lol everyone wants braids now days
Cynthia Pinson says
Braiding too tight can damage the scalp and hair too…
Karlii Mae says
I say the only to e I would do this method is when I’ve made a wig or crochet wig and cause I can’t braide that well..I would do a perimeter like this then the rest big braids…I scared it would tangle n pull. I sweat a lot and my hair is fine n thin. Worth a try
Ashley Jean says
That’s what I thought too. Just don’t make the rubber bands too tight.
Liz Toles says
As a stylist I’m not a fan, rubber bans cause breakage. Cute hair tho!
Danielle Jemison says
Snatch bald
Jazzmin Miller says
Yes rubber bands do cause damage but so does braiding.

Sharon Johnson says
What happen when your head itch?? SURELY WILL WITH ALL THAT SHIT ON IT,
Lida Wallace says
Why not just sew it in,Dahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tender Roni says
I see why her hair is so short and uneven. I’d never let someone do that to my hair. Rubber bands….heck no!
Tierra Rayne says
Is she out her damn mind? I would nevr go to her salon. She probably bald as a baby’s behind.
Cha LaBranche says
I hate the way rubber bands stick my hair
Monique Leilani says

Curtisha Griffin says
It’s interesting to see…. But damaging!!
Tara Roy says
I’m just like that mess looks like it took 10 hrs just to do the rubber band thing…..not to mention the stress she’s putting on that girl’s hair..
Sophia Baker says
Wtf is this bs
Patricia Caldwell says
That looks too time consuming and damaging…
Ashley Jean says
I personally wouldn’t want to do this method. I’d rather just braid it underneath. But if that’s what she wants in her hair okay.
Jusz Kiyla says
I rather get it braided….that seems like it’ll take forever
Soknesha Kendrick says
Ewww
Porscha Boynton says
Rubber bands can do the same damage tight braids do
Azsha Monique says
People just want to “invent” something. Braidless sew ins were done this way back in the day and has been known to take out clients hair with this method, but I guess if done properly it could work! I might give a shot. Lol jk
Azsha Monique says
Lol, not gonna happen. This will leave folks bald(er). Lmbo!
Moe OhsoPretty Williams says
I’m doing this!
Michelle Younger Chamberlain says
Rubber bands are not good for hair it can cause breakage and cause head to be very sore also all the tension can be extra painfully i cant agree with this technique
Mrz' Toi says
Right I just thought a good idea for someone with really really short hair lol
Mary Stephens Mcgrew says
I bet those rubber bands hurts, especially once she sews it down.
Tammie Faulkner Taylor says
“New”?
Been out for YEARS. lol
Quindolyn Brown says
My stylist used this technique when my hair started to fall out due to the medication I was taking… it worked for me. My hair was already cut into a short style prior to my hair falling out. Once my hair began to grow back in she cut my hair down to everything looked even. Today my hair is growing back in. I would do this technique again if I feel like having my hair a bit longer. It felt weird at first but after a while I got used to it. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Karmella McDonald says
Spice Will good for short hair
Maronica Powell-Cornelius says
NO AND NO… NOT HEALTHY AT ALL
Latoya McCoy says
I had a stylist to do a rubber band sew in on my hair and he did NOT even use a net. Needless to say I was not a fan. It hurt like hell, it did not appear as if it would last, and I took it down immediately. He would not even refund my money. I was hot!
Precious Hepburn says
Yass i saw that, that’s madaboutmeechie! the foundation look like it hurt but it’s good for non braiders or people with short hair lol
Rosaland Sharie Floyd says
I’ve seen this done before but it was because the client hair was really short
Cherisse Rochelle says
Smh she ain’t never gonna have no hair. And I am scared of the nape of her neck. I was thinking those dry as rubber bands were going to snatch out her hair In Patches.
