They call themselves the Curl Experts, and they have really great products, but you are going to pay for it. They have curly salons around the country and are a treat to go to. They are definitely a salon brand.
Climate Control Frizz & Flyaway Fighter $22 for 4 oz bottle.
Curl Quencher Hydrafusion Intense Curl Cream, $26 for 5 oz bottle.
Clear Control Pomade, $27 for 4 oz bottle.
Shine Glaze Serum $21 for 2.5 oz bottle.
I love this brand and use it often. Although I will pay whatever for it, I do understand some find it pricey. They have smaller jars now to accommodate that problem. I had to add them to the list because I know many find this line overpriced.
Kinky Curly Knot Today*, $12 for 8 oz bottle.
Kinky* Curly Curling Custard $29 for 16 oz jar.
Kinky* Curly Gloss Pomade, $10 for 2 oz canister.
Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo, $12 for 8 oz bottle.

The only expensive product I’ve found that works good on my hair is ”as I am” and some “kera care” products….. Miss Jessie’s, carols daughters, and mixed chicks products do nothing
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
the Coconut Co-wash seems to have gone down in price and can be found even in WAlmart now. Way cheaper than at Sally’s.

I absolutely love Shea Moisture. I’ve been using it from the very beginning (3 years). I’ve tried other products with them but the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Moisture Retention shampoo, as well as the purification masque are staples. Recently I discovered the Manuka Honey and Manfura Oil Intensive Hydration conditioner and deep treatment masque. They are my new permanent favorites.
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
That line is just full of great products.
Crystal Cummings says

Anyelina Devers says
Also Karens body beautiful , good products but overpriced , camille rose can be expensive too
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
Yea, karen’s is kind of pricey
Clara White says
Carol’s Daughter works well but its over priced and over rated. There’s other products that work just as well for half the price of Carol’s Daughter
Guerda Brutus says
Ain’t that the truth
Shawn Wheeler says
Thank you all for your Shea Moisture experience….I just started using them and they seem to be the only product that works for my hair. The curling soufflé is a little on the greasy side but I’ll just limit the amt I use. Thanks again
Cheryl Bagley says
Love shea moisture. I do the LOC method and uses it. Have my hair perfectly moisturized allll dayy
Mary Baker says
What’s the best product to use on natural hair and keeps moisture?
Valencia Williams says
Mary, I would recommend KBB’s Sweet Ambrosia Leave in after washing your hair and Oyin’s Juices and Berries for your daily moisturizing needs. I can recommend them with great confidence that they will work.

See most of the expensive products are black-owned. I wouldn’t mind supporting, but 30 plus dollars for a 5oz of something is really extra to me. I do love how Shea Moisture have the BOGO sales and I would like for others companies to follow with that. And it would actually be so much easier if the prominent products would be in stores too. I really don’t like shopping for hair products on line. Just me though
Vienna Closer says
I totally agree that these brands are too costly. Lots of products are being introduced on the commercial market and they are available on the ground. These brands need to wise up because the ingredients aren’t much different often times. African Prode and Sof n Fee have some very affordable products.
