Top 10 Most Overpriced Natural Hair Products

Ojon

Ojon hair products

Ojon has several specialized lines, but the main focus surrounds Ojon oil, and how it will restore your hair’s health. I have heard great things about this line, but they are really expensive!

Rare Blend™ Infusion Shampoo $30 for an 8.1 oz bottle.

Rare Blend™ Deep Conditioner $34 for 5 oz bottle.

Rare Blend Oil Total Tair Therapy, $35 for 1.5 oz bottle.

Ojon™ Revitalizing Mist Original $48 for 16 oz bottle.

Aveda

Aveda hair products

This line has been around for years, and they have a great Be Curly hair line, but they are rather pricey. Now the line is good, and they have several other lines that work great for natural hair, but you have to determine if the product is worth the price.

Be Curly™ Shampoo $21 for 8 oz bottle.

Be Curly™ Curl Enhancer $24 for 6.7 oz.

Be Curly™ Style-Prep™ $24 for 3.4 oz.

Be Curly™ Kit $90 for shampoo, conditioner, Curl Enhancer and Style Prep.

About Sabrina Perkins

Hello all, I'm Sabrina. I'm a freelance writer and a full-time blogger at my site, http://www.seriouslynatural.org/ where the focus is on Natural hair, beauty and style. I became natural 8 years ago at the tender age of 35 and love sharing my ups and downs as I master this thing called natural hair. Married, with two kids (one being a natural herself) gives me a different perspective on our hair and why I love being natural. I want healthy hair, long hair and sexy hair! I'm an older natural---that's right---I'm grown and sexy, and I have much to share. I love fashion too and recently opened a clothing shop for beautiful black women at www.seriouslynatural.spreadshirt.com

The only expensive product I’ve found that works good on my hair is ”as I am” and some “kera care” products….. Miss Jessie’s, carols daughters, and mixed chicks products do nothing

I love me some WEN. But it most definitely us expensive so I save up and buy the gallons twice a year from QVC.

Guilty of shelling out the big bucks for carols daughter. But with hair that’s prone to breakage the monoi line is the only thing I’ve come across to combat that

I use the mixed chick products and found that if can buy the really big bottles on Amazon. I brought like 3 deep conditioners and 2 leave in conditioners for like $80. I still have a bottle of each and I brought them last year.

I absolutely love Shea Moisture. I’ve been using it from the very beginning (3 years). I’ve tried other products with them but the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Moisture Retention shampoo, as well as the purification masque are staples. Recently I discovered the Manuka Honey and Manfura Oil Intensive Hydration conditioner and deep treatment masque. They are my new permanent favorites.

I too order my fig WEN from QVC. Shea Moisture is also a go to and I love Mixed Chicks Deep conditioner

I have yet to use them but Shea Moisture seems to be reasonably priced products! Curls and Hair Rules are on the pricey side.

Carol’s Daughter works well but its over priced and over rated. There’s other products that work just as well for half the price of Carol’s Daughter

Thank you all for your Shea Moisture experience….I just started using them and they seem to be the only product that works for my hair. The curling soufflé is a little on the greasy side but I’ll just limit the amt I use. Thanks again

See most of the expensive products are black-owned. I wouldn’t mind supporting, but 30 plus dollars for a 5oz of something is really extra to me. I do love how Shea Moisture have the BOGO sales and I would like for others companies to follow with that. And it would actually be so much easier if the prominent products would be in stores too. I really don’t like shopping for hair products on line. Just me though

I totally agree that these brands are too costly. Lots of products are being introduced on the commercial market and they are available on the ground. These brands need to wise up because the ingredients aren’t much different often times. African Prode and Sof n Fee have some very affordable products.
