Introduce yourself . .
Hello! My name is Kat, I’m 26, and I’m from the Dominican Republic.
Are you relaxed, natural, texturized or texlaxed?
Natural
What’s your story, how did you get to where you are?
I started this process in January 2013, after seeing that my hair was not moving at all. I used hair extensions* for 5 years, which caused my hair a lot of damage. In 2010 I stopped using them.
In December 2012 was when I realized I had to start from scratch and then I decided to remove the damaged hair and let it grow naturally. It was a difficult process at first, but eventually you will adapt and you learn more and more about how to handle and care for your hair properly and this what I’m doing so far.
What is your typical weekly regimen?
Every two weeks I wash my hair with shampoo organic coconut* , I make sure that I use plenty of water , to avoid mixing products.
After that I apply a conditioning cream milk and honey that helps to moisturize the hair.
After removing the conditioner, wring out a little water from hair and apply leave-in coconut conditioner (Kleo is the name of the brand and it is the same for the shampoo). Then I proceed to divide the hair into many sections and do bantu knots to give good shape to hair while protecting it.
During the week I will apply a treatment which I have prepared (containing conditioner TRESEMME , jojoba oil* , almond oil* and water in a bottle ), I do braids to protect my hair , and the next day the hair is hydrated. The next day just spray a little water to reactivate the products I used and apply an alcohol-free gel that helps keep the curls longer. Sometimes I apply almond oil* and leave-in instead of gel, and this keeps my hair nice and shiny. So far it’s working for me!
Are you happy with your progress so far?
Of course, I am very happy … In just one year I have seen such progress without forcing the hair with chemicals
What’s your signature style?
My hair is still short, so I do bantu knots and sometimes I will straighten my hair using heat protectant* from the Sebastian Product line. My hair usually lasts two weeks straight.
How do you ensure that your ends are protected from the elements and your hands?
If I’m inside the house I wear a scarf after doing a protective style. I’ve learned not to touch my hair when I’m out.
Do you have a goal length or are you more concerned about the health of your hair?
The most important thing is that the hair is healthy, without that it will never grow. I would like to have it fall to the shoulders.
Is there anything that you hair hates?
If I forget to protect while I sleep, the next day is very tangled, this is the part I hate the most. My hair gets rebellious and dry.
Do you have any favorite hair products?
As I mentioned before, I use a shampoo and leave-in coconut* products of Kleo. Tresemme Conditioner and a cream conditioner Capilo honey and milk. I also really like the leave-in anti-frizz products Garnier Fructis.

I feel encouraged now after reading your product answer, I’m starting my product journey and I’m using a leave in conditioner and I kept questioning rather or not I should be using more, but my hair is moisturizered and healthy, so I guess I’m doing something right!
