It’s cold. I’m sorry but that pretty much sums up the weather quite nicely. For most of us bracing the cold there really isn’t much more to say. It’s cold and we are tired of it but with the Polar Vortex calling the shots, the rest of January won’t be much different. So, I say again, it’s cold.
Now, there’s more to do than just complain and the reason being…our hair needs our attention! The cold temperatures, the winter clothes and even the dry air in our houses can be very detrimental to our tresses. There are several ways to fix the damaged hair, but most of the time you want prevent it from even happening in the first place.
I came across this video by, My Natural Sistas, in my quest to find ideas to prevent the dry and cold air from harming my hair. What I found was a DIY trick that I should have been using long before now.
I’m living in a cold climate and this is something that can be used year round but even more so during the colder months. It’s from last month and the giveaway associated with it has passed but the trick and the product she uses are something that needs to be in your arsenal ASAP.
My Natural Sistas are biological sisters with gorgeous hair and valuable tips they share on their YouTube channel. This is India in the video and I am in love with her hair but I’m more in love with her DIY tip.
WHO KNEW about this Misto Oil Spray bottle from Bed Bath & Beyond for only $14.99?? You can also pick them up from Amazon. I really hope my UK Naturals can find it out there (Amazon UK), but if not I know Bed Bath & Beyond sell it online so don’t fret.
That will be my newest purchase and since I have almost everything else she uses I’m set! I don’t like olive oil* or clear castor oil* but I have been meaning to get my hands on some Almond oil* forever and now I have a reason to pick it up. I LOVE lavender oil (it’s my favorite essential oil and scent) so you know that’s going in my bottle too.
Let’s be proactive and keep our tresses protected this winter Naturals. Come on, admit it… this is a tip worth trying. So, are you going to give this a try? If so, share and let me know what you thought of it. I’ll make sure to come back and let you know what I thought too.
This is neat thanks for sharing.
Thanks Shay!
Enter me my favorite oil _castor oil
I tried one of these bottles. The spray doesn’t last that long and you have to keep pumping each time. And I try to do a light spray when I do this and I couldn’t believe how much effort I had to put into it. Her video says to keep pumping til you can’t pump anymore. Well over time you will keep pumping and you won’t feel that resistance and what will happen is the bottle will get too much pressure and the bottle blows up and you end up with an oil mess all over the place. This renders this bottle useless. Don’t waste your money.
Aww that’s a shame. Still tempted to purchase on tho…. lol
I never had that problem and I’ve had my bottle for a year now.
I have one also and I have learned to use it so that it has a 5-10 sec. Spray stream. It works better if you feel the bottle less than midway. It also pumps better this way. I enjoy using my Misto and it was a good use of my 9 or 10 dollars at Target.
Soraya Miller If it has worked for you that is awesome. It just didn’t work out for me.
That’s unfortunate. How long ago did you purchase it? Maybe they have worked out the kinks by now. I’ll give it a try to see.
I bought it back in December and it only lasted about 3 weeks.
@Veronica – it sounds like you may have had a defective bottle.
I use Misto bottle full of olive oil to spray on my salads & veggies & have also used one to spray my hair. I’ve had these bottles for years & never had any blow ups.
Maybe you had a bad bottle. I hate you had that experience.
Luv my Misto spray bottle

Where can I purchase the oils?
Just about anywhere actually. Whole foods and even Walmart is jumping on the oil bandwagon.
Enter me please!! 🙂 Aegean, jojoba, grapeseed or apricot oil. And lavender is my fav
Yep, I heat the oil just by leaving the jar in a bowel of hot water to make it easier to pour into the spray bottle! Then I put half coconut oil /half distilled water, shake it up! When your ready to use it just stand the spray bottle in hot water for the coconut oil to melt and away u go! Same for my mix of black castor oil and coconut oil! Half of each in application bottle! When ready to use melt it before, apply direct to scalp the give scalp a good massage for 5mins! You will feel the results straight away and after 3wks- results will b seen!
