Prevention
While there is no real cure for female patterned baldness we still wanted to look at ways you can prevent it in the cases where it is caused by scalp ailments or destructive manipulation.
Avoid stress on the scalp
Tight hairstyles and braids are the number one culprit for hair loss in women who may not be susceptible to baldness due to age or family history.
We would recommend that you avoid any hairstyle that causes stress on the hairline and the crown area as these can be very sensitive areas of the scalp.
Create styles that keep your hair healthy as well as stylish, like loose twists, updos, or loose braids. As we get older we have to be very cognizant of the changes in our hair and change our methods of hair care and styling according.
Scalp health
In addition to focusing on the tension created by some hair styles, focusing on the health of your scalp is very important to keep your hair growing for a long time.
Avoid scalp ailments like dandruff or fungus so that your hair follicles can breathe and stay unclogged. Use DIY methods to care for your scalp using ingredients that kill fungus and rid the scalp of any sort of irritation.
If you are experiencing excessive itching and dandruff we have a great recipe you can use to help your scalp reactions to the irritation caused by the fungus. Itching and resultant sores are frequent co-occurrences, along with hair breakage from all the scratching. Try this simple DIY recipe for healing sores and stopping flakes.
Empty spray, squeeze, or dropper bottle and add:
1 cup rosewater (a gentle astringent). Water can be used if rosewater is unavailable.
1/8 cup aloe vera gel* (anti-inflammatory, soothing)
10 drops of tea tree oil* (anti-fungal)
Spray/squirt/drop directly on your scalp and you do not have to rinse the mixture out. Itching should be reduced significantly after the first application, and with regular use, sores will heal and the fungus will be controlled.
Use as often as you would like or if you are more of a schedule person we would recommend using the solution twice per week to maintain a healthy and happy scalp.
As an extra conditioning or hot oil treatment, the mixture can be added to some warm coconut oil* in a 2:1 ratio. Section hair and gently massage the mixture into your scalp. You can cover your hair with a plastic cap and then use a heating cap for extra conditioning.
Ensure that you wash the mix out completely after your treatment has completed and then condition your hair as normal.
In conclusion, we would say the main thing to consider at the end of the day is not diagnosing yourself if you are experiencing excessive shedding our extreme hair loss.
If you also have tried everything and nothing seems to work it helps to see a doctor and take the tests they recommend. Hair loss and hair growth are all internal processes that cannot be rectified without some sort of medication or supplement to your diet if at all.
At the end of the day, all is not lost, the market is constantly working to find solutions for women and men suffering from hair loss and the hair industry is constantly evolving giving women viable options they can make use of.
If you or someone you know is dealing with hair loss, do not do it alone, setting an appointment is a great way to start when handling it.
What’s the solution
I suffer from this and its horrible.. A lot of people say hair doesn’t make you but it’s not wrong to want to feel beautiful.
I believe the solution will have to start with dieting. Supplying your body and hair with the right vitamins and minerals that promote hair growth. Some examples are Biotin, Vitamin B, Folic Acid and more.
But it also requires that you take extreme care for your hair and avoid stuff that can make matters worse. For example, towel dry after washing instead of going under a heater, make sure to keep your hair moisturized, only use natural products and a lot more.
All in all, it will take time but it is possible to prevent balding and even regrow your hair naturally.
