Now this doesn’t mean that just because you are eating for two you have to go ahead and buy a double everything each time you sit for a meal. In many cases, since morning sickness in the initial stages inhibits your eating habits you might have to take smaller portion sizes; they’ll just need to be more frequent and of high nutritional value.
If it gets so bad that most everything you try to eat makes you sick, you might have to resort to juicing or drinking shakes.
Of course, there are also the contemporary prenatal vitamins which you ca use to fill in the gaps, but as much as possible, try to ensure that foods (inclusive of liquid alternatives such as shakes and juices) are your first medicine.
While prenatal vitamins serve their purpose as dietary gap-fillers, sometime they can add to the problem. How can something that is intended to be good for you exacerbate the situation?
Have you ever noticed how you will be on one particular brand of prenatal vitamins and they make you as sick as a dog? Unknowingly to some, at times the concentrated levels of the supplements* can flood your system causing an excess of stuff that you might not need early in your pregnancy.
It could also be that depending on your diet, you are already meeting the nutritional requirements, so the presence of high concentrations of the minerals and vitamins tend to cause increased shedding as your hormones try to balance all the chemical substances within.
If your situation makes it necessary for you to take prenatal vitamins, and you find that it makes you sick, see your doctor and get a prescription with a lower concentration of substances. Of course, this would mean you would have to lay off those pills for a few days to assess whether or not they are the culprits. Remember though, if you are sick, that can cause stress on the body and stress can lead to shedding.
Brands differ but doctors have some idea of the brands that have higher concentrations of certain nutrients and the moment you can explain your symptoms and provide a plausible reason for wanting a switch, they will be accommodating.
Wow I never knew people lost hair during pregnancy, mine got thicker n longer
@ Eva Filamba
Most persons experience incresed thickness and growth since more follicles come out of the resting phase during pregnancy, but pregnancy can be stressful for some and the stress can manifest through shedding, especially if diet and rest are not on point. For some, it doesn’t help that the hormones at this time are all over the place. For the most part though, rough handling ( which can happen because of impatience with thicker hair) can cause hair to be pulled up from the root or ripped mid-shaft. I think I ripped my hair out quite often (Prior to my hair journey of course), but this time around I have resorted to top buns and loose twists so I’m not risking any dammage. I just leave it alone for the most part.
Mine too.. and it wasn’t the vitamins because I never took them.. lol
