Now I definitely get why movie stars do it, they have to wear wigs and weaves for parts in movies and it’s their career. When they take out their hair pieces and weaves they love to sport their natural tresses but then for the sake of their job they cover their hair again with weaves or wigs.
I get that, but if you are just an everyday woman who can wear her hair anyway but chooses to keep it under a weaves 95% of the time why are you repping team natural? When do we see your hair and when do you proudly show your hair to the world?
Being team natural is more than just no longer relaxing your tresses. It’s being proud of your natural hair, not succumbing to the European style of beauty of straight hair and loving the hair you were born with.
You are shattering the standard of beauty we have been fed for centuries and no longer afraid to be yourself and look darn good while doing it. Team natural is about nurturing your natural strands and wearing them out proudly so if you are hiding it under weaves or wigs that is your choice but to claim team natural at the same time is in the eyes of some…a fraud!
Hey, do what you want, who am I to tell you what to do, all I am saying is what the Kermit meme shows what many others are thinking even if they aren’t saying it.
Why you are hiding your gorgeous tresses and when are you could be learning how to take care of your hair and try some of these amazing styles that naturals can and do rock daily?
Are you sure you are fully ready for that step because if you nurture your tresses and then add hair to them to ‘fit in’ or feel better about yourself then you need to determine why you are using your added hair as a crutch.
This issue is not for the style divas who change up hairstyles about as often as they change their clothes. You will have a pink TWA one day and have straight hair to your butt the next and I get that and this meme is not for you.
That meme is meant for the unsure woman who wants to be team natural but not yet ready to take the plunge. It’s OK to be unsure, but it’s not OK to make yourself believe something that isn’t true. Take off the wig, take out the weave and fall in love with your natural tresses.
