Did you guys hear about this shenanigans? My first reaction was utter shock, for some reason even though I never purchased not one bottle of this stuff I held the line in the highest regard.
Then my second reaction was, how? What in the world could they have in that stuff that could cause massive clumps of peoples hair to fall out; While at the same “curing all scalp issues” according to the infomercial?
Of course I had to get to the bottom of this, what could Chaz Dean have done? And does he know that I actually recommended his product to my mother?
According to word on the street, there is a class action lawsuit that has been filed in California in the Summer of last year. The suit is against Guthy-Renker who is the parent company of WEN.
According to the details of the suit the WEN Cleansing Conditioner specifically causes hair loss and if you are smart enough to stop using it, your hair continues to fall until there is literally nothing left.
That might be a bit dramatized but I promise you its only a ‘bit’. The suit was filed but Amy Friedman who happens to be a medical nurse practitioner from Florida.
She was sold like many of us by the WEN infomercial and took the plunge purchasing the conditioner. According to the details:
“Within two weeks of beginning use of her WEN Cleansing Conditioner, [she] began losing substantial and abnormal amounts of hair [and] the hair loss continued for approximately three more weeks [and she] lost one quarter to one third of the hair on her head.”
Amy is suing the company for her hair loss. When you add the emotional toll this must have had on her, it could be a pretty hefty bill for the “all natural” product company.
I was going to purchase some myself but after checking out their fb page, I changed my mind. Nothing but complaints. I’ll stick to the stuff I know.

I tired this, and the first time I used it my hair clumped up really bad and came out. Tried it again and it didn’t. Not sure why, but I asked for my money back lbs

Yep, true my hair is thin as paper and continues to fall out gotta get some keranique. Rogaine or yeast infection cream something to stop it but stay away from Chaz,!
I have tried wen hair products which did nothing for my hair. Breakage and shedding continued until I stopped using it and started weekly natural deep hair mask and following other natural hair technics that has improved my overall hair health. Now practically no breakage and experiencing grow. Reading and learning from this blog and watching others, like Curly Nikki and Urban Bush Babes has literally saved my hair. Can’t thank you guys enough. Try their natural remedies you won’t be disappointed????

Everything is not meant for everyone, I wanted to try it, still might but this makes me think twice before spending the money

It made my hair fall out.. at first I thought that it was normal. I always lose hair in the shower. But then I realized it was more than normal. I stopped using it and my hair is a lot thinner than it used to be.. 🙁

I use this (I’m black) and my hair grew past the middle of my back and I have “Om Fu Fu” hair.

hmmm the very 1st time I used it I had issues cause I didn’t follow the instructions after all it’s not a shampoo it’s a cleanser when it was time for another wash I followed the instructions love love love it

It happened to me. So for all those who say it won’t, just give it some time. I had to do the big chop because of it. The way it fell out was insidious.

I stopped using a relaxer a little over a year ago while still using WEN agony still no adverse effects. My hair is still growing, after the Big Chop, and all the new products I’ve added to my regimen. So maybe some people have had a bad reaction, but I haven’t and I’m not going to stop using it now.

I’ll stick with Cantu Shea Butter organic Shea Butter and olive oil . My hair loves natural oils and Shea Butter . It hates commercial products with chemicals .

I got it to go away but after using product again rash come back so I figured it was something in it I had a reaction too. So I re order but this time I order the oringal condish (order the almond) and again after using product rash return..I stopped using WEN completely.. Not worth itching all day and neck looking a hot mess.. Use Shea Moisture products or other natural products.
