Want To See What Celebrities Would Look Like With Natural Hair?

Mary J with natural hairI love going to the movies. Entertainment, popcorn and good company, what’s not to like? A few months ago I found myself in the cinema watching the very funny and talented bunch in Think Like A Man.

Gabby Union was adorable, Meagan Good was fabulous, Kevin Hart was hysterical and even the cameo by Morris Chestnut had me swooning (but I’ve had a girly crush on him forever).

Anyway what struck me in that film was how odd it was that even with the natural hair movement in full swing, Hollywood still insists on remaining relaxed, straightened or weaved up.

I mean of course you have a few celebs who have gone with the natural trend but by and large you have to admit that the African American women gracing our screens night after night tend to keep their locks on the sleek smooth side.

I’m not going to get all political with this post, my views on relaxed hair and the right to choose are already out there. Having said that, without a doubt, natural hair looks like it’s here to stay so I would have expected a few more celebs to be rocking their curls and kinks by now.

You may be surprised to learn that 69% of our readership is either already natural or transitioning (even though this is firmly an equal opportunities hair care website). So I thought it was about time we had fun and got to see what some of these celebrities would look like with natural hair. Who knows, it may nudge some of them into taking the plunge!

Now don’t shoot me when it comes to the choices of hair texture that I chose for each celebrity. It was all very unscientific and there are so many different options that I just went with what I actually wanted to see.

So with a bit of Photoshop magic, let’s begin . . .

Beautiful! I love it I started my natural journey almost 2 years and can’t wait to see this length of hair on my head…

    1. Dawn

With the right style, I think anyone can look stunning natural.

  2. Derrica Fridge

No she wouldn’t. Just because not all of us choose to wear it in the nappy state don’t mean it’s not natural but that’s not cute and it don’t look good on everybody

    1. Dawn

Nappy is u moisturised hair and therefore unkempt, which does not look attractive. Take Solange for example…

  3. Hanna Marie

How can natural hair not be for everyone if that’s the hair God gave them? Although this is photoshopped I personally think it looks great. Maybe a different hair style wud do but that’s it.

  4. Monique L. Holsome

What is the sudden focus about hair texture, etc? First we are put against eachother behind skin shades now its our hair? If your hair grew from your head, you are natural. And if it didnt, you are STILL beautiful and no blacker and no prouder that the next sista. Alot of y’all are putting too much on this. No wonder so many women overdo themselves and end up looking silly. Embrace your sister and stop falling for all of these ploys to keep us AT eachother. Hair is hair.

  5. Saba RighteousLioness

dividing isnt good you right about that and it shouldnt be about that but more about consciousness
rock your REAL hair because thats how JAH created you and to show we are proud of what we are for self-esteem is sooo important especially for our young princesses so how else can you show them other than being a role model and being confident about your BLACK APPEARANCE what includes your hair
if we can set that standard then it shouldnt matter if we wear our hair natural straigt or w.e but until then its important to strengthen our QUEENS
we need to come back to being kings and queens and not brainwashed babylonians!!
    ONE LOVE – RASTAFARI

  6. Saba RighteousLioness

saying a black woman with her natural hair doesnt look good already shows the brainwash and ignorance we have to deal with these days
    WAKE UP! RISE UP!
BLACK QUEENS ROCK YOUR HAIR NATURAL
    Embrace – Empower – Uplift

  7. Danielle Oliver

It’s not a look/style for those who have chosen to embrace their natural hair… I don’t plan to go back…. & of course anyone who wants to embrace their REAL hair will look great…

  8. Wincie Collins

She is so beautiful!!! This natural hairstyle makes her cheeks seem more full. She has the rock-a-by baby glow. Not starting rumors but she is glowing. 🙂

  9. Renee Banks

Ofcourse. Any natural woman can. We have chosen to alter our appearances to be un-natural. Nothing wrong with the way God created us.

  10. Kyla Harmon

OMG calm down! Stop over analyzing the question if she was trying to imply we don’t look good with natural hair that’s what she would have said. Natural hair is not a gang or black panther party. Stop imagining conflict when there is none. It’s stifling!

  11. Rahesha Dixon

I think so Meagan Good is a beautiful women even when she was younger so yes. Plus black women are beautiful anyways

  12. Ilet Chirimangombe

Gosh, whats with the holier than thou crap. Its just a damn question. Wearing a weave doesnt make her less black. It would be a choice and she can exercise it without being made to feel like a traitor. Daaamn

  13. Jay Noel-Palmer

of course she can, wasnt we all born with NATURAL HAIR??? either way with her natural hair, full head of weave or relaxed hair she still remains beautiful.

  14. Jess Cotton

who can’t pull off a natural look, it was God given to you, you better be able to pull of natural… It’s natural!!

  15. Pollye Lewis

They messed up them eyebrows they wrong for that…I’m mean it’s Megan good she gotta b on point boo! Smh

  16. Kadesha Means

she can pull tht style off but I wouldn’t say it’s natural, because it’s obviously a weave!!

  17. Kelleigh Rhone

It clearly says “want to see what celebrities LOOK like with natural HAIR… Nun bout natural look… Lol

  18. Dante' Nicole Miller

Any Black woman can pull of a natural look…it’s our hair….how can we not pull it off. If you don’t take care of it or don’t give a damn and you don’t have patients, then you will look like Buckweet, but if you do then you’ll be fine. In the beginning it’s ruff because you relearning your hair….

    1. Dante' Nicole Miller

Lol thank you Asha Lewis. :). I’m just tired of people saying “I won’t look right doing it, not everyone can go natural.” If you don’t want to go natural because it’s time consuming in your opinion, and you just prefer your hair straight..that’s good for you! But don’t go and say “I can’t do it because you automatically know it won’t “look right on you”. It’s your hair. And it’s healthier for you.

  19. Ariel Kindrow

I’m sorry, wth is the natural “look”? Is that what people think us naturals are doing? Just confining to a trend? Its not a look it’s how we were born. Now weave is the “look”. And btw….it looks great on her.

  20. Nonie Oboli

It’s cute…I think she looks pregnant…for sure something different about her face.

  21. Shara Jones

Why is that even a question? Do we not know what natural is? Natural is not something you “pull off”… It’s just you without artificial enhancement!

  22. Micole Spicer

Black womens hair is natural to begin with before we start puitting all of those chemicals in.

  23. Samantha Clark

Why not it’s her hair. All the negative talk should not be here. Brainwashed into thinking our hair is not enough. Smh

  24. Sally Camara

What do you mean “pull off the natural look”. This is not a trend, it’s our natural hair.

  25. La Creatia Watkins

How are they basing the person and getting the type of hair. I don’t like photoshopped pictures because they are fake. If anyone wants to be or go natural it’s their prerogative the only thing everyone else needs to stop doing is judging. We were born this way there is nothing wrong with going back.

  26. Jay Noel-Palmer

Of course she can “pull of the natural look” its what she was born with. Either way whether she has her natural hair or a head full of weave shes still a very beautiful woman x

  27. Neissi Greene

She would look great but thats not her hair texture she has been short tapered natural before n its gorgeous of course
