Halo braids- one of the easiest protective styles ever and they only take a few minutes. Did you know that you could get two styles from your halo braids? No? Well let’s find out how!
What You Need:
►Comb
►Styling Gel or Butter
Start off with dry, stretched hair and a rat tail comb*. Use the comb to part your hair down the middle. To make your life easier use two scrunchies, two bobby pins, two hair clips, or whatever you have to keep the sections separated. Create a small section in the front and begin to cornrow back. Do this on both sides of your head. Use two bobby pins* to tuck the braids into each other and secure in the back, that’s it you’re done!
There are a few reasons why halo braids are so great:
►They keep your ends protected– They are not as much of a commitment as installing box braids or twists and you can take them out any time you want. Seal your ends before you pin the braids up, and you can take out the pins every night to seal and add more moisture. Protected ends are happy ends, and you can retain length this way.
►They last for a few days and are a great low manipulation style– This style is great for ladies that don’t want to play with their hair all day, and it stops chronic ‘hands in hair’ syndrome.
►They’re cute (duhh!)- Halo braids (when done neatly), can be worn for almost any occasion, work, school, date night, anything. They are also easy to accessorize.
►They don’t take much time to install– Depending on your braiding skill, halo braids shouldn’t take longer than maybe 25 minutes to complete.
►They’re easy to install- You do not need any extra styling tools or rods because you are simply doing two cornrows backwards. If you have a hard time with braiding, no worries; it gets easier with practice. This is a great style for transitioners who are looking for ways to blend two textures.
Once you decide to take down your halo braids, you can give yourself an easy faux textured bob. All it takes are a few bobby pins to secure the hair in the back and make it look a little shorter. The hair in the front will frame your face and look amazing. The faux bob will give you another day or two worth of a style without any extra work!
