Wearing short hair is the ultimate hair statement. It says a lot about you before you utter a single word. Every woman should cut her hair at least one time in her life. It’s an exhilarating experience. Many times when a woman cuts her hair short, she never turns back. I’ve worn my hair short for years now and although at times I miss my longer hair, I can’t see myself going back anytime soon.
Despite short hair being fun all on its own, there are times when you may need to jazz it up even more. With the holidays approaching, deciding on what to do with your hair can be something you start thinking about. There are options available for short hair just as there are for longer hair. Below are 4 easy ways to spice up your pixie cut.
Spice up your pixie wth a headband
Headbands* are an excellent option for adding a little something to your short cut. They are easily accessible and they run the range from literally $1.00 to $30.00. The choice is yours. Headbands* come in a million different designs.
If you want to add a formal feel to your hair for an office holiday party, you can add an elaborate headband* to a simple little black dress and immediately elevate your look.
If you prefer a more fun and casual look, opt for a headband* that adds a pop of color with a flower or bow design. Either one will work and because they are so affordable, you can get both with no worries.
Spice up your pixie with bobby pins
The things you can do with bobby pins and short hair are almost endless. Plain black bobby pins can be added to one side of your hair to give some added texture to an otherwise simple look. If you want more flare, criss-cross the pins, one on top of the other, and voila, you have a new look.
Colored bobby pins* also make a bold statement with ease. They come in every color imaginable. This means that whatever type of look you want, can be achieved with a pack of bobby pins*. Who knew? My favorites are the gold and silver ones. When you criss-cross two or three sets of sparkly bobby pins in black hair, it’s an attention grabber. It stands out and is very girly and pretty.
Embellished bobby pins are also easy and timeless. Adding pearls, glitter, jewels, or fabric to a regular old bobby pin, can give it life. The best part about wearing embellished bobby pins is the illusion they give. When you push the pin into your hair, the base of the bobby pin is hidden and all that shows is the embellished end. It gives the appearance that a dainty pearl is effortlessly peeking out from the folds of your hair. So beautiful.
The other fun thing about embellished bobby pins is that you can totally DIY them. With a hot glue gun and some imagination, you could get your Martha Stewart on and create whatever look you want. I’ve taken to deconstructing my old earrings and repurposing them as embellishments on my bobby pins.
The one with the bobby pins, looked like she just woke up. The other 2 were BIG CHOPS. These styles did not look good.
