And so do my daughter hair down her back and since she was 9 it was so thick. Never once broke off, fell out or thinned out.

My sister has thick relaxed hair down to the middle of her back. My friends mom has relaxed hair down to her bottom. It’s about how you take care of it.

It’s your hair Sis. Do what you want, you’re grown. I am a natural and I will never perm my hair, but I wish somebody would try to shame me for perming it if I had decided to. We all have our own individual heads and scalps right? Ok then.

Not healthy. Causes fibroids, cysts, bad menstrual cramps… and you have to touch up the edges and roots on a routine basis to keep the permed ends from breaking off.

But hey there’s nothing wrong with trying something new if it’s your wish.

There’s no evidence it causes fibroid cysts. Every study I’ve read specifically states it cannot rule African ancestry as a possible cause. When you read studies you have to read more than the conclusion. Also, while black women do suffer from fibroids more than any other race, other races who do not wear relaxers DO get fibroids. Furthermore I know women who’ve never worn relaxers that suffer from fibroids including my sister who has worn natural hair most of her life. And my mother who never a perm in her life.

Chrissy King Just because there are people who have had fibroid cancer without ever having perms doesn’t mean perms don’t cause fibroids… that’s like saying a particular birth control pill doesn’t cause depression because I know people who’ve been diagnosed with depression who never took birth control pills.

Again because you intentionally made a point to miss the part where I said those studies clearly STATE.,”African ancestry CANNOT be ruled out as a possible cause for fibroids.” Meaning those studies are meaningless.

And birth control pills don’t cause depression. Some have been proven to help treat underlying causees of depression. But that’s neither here nor there.

It will be back to 10 inches soon after the perm. It’s not meant for our hair. To damaging.

For the majority Its too damaging. I know one or two that can endure it with little damage but not many.

I know many women with long relaxed hair. Most people don’t apply them right. And that includes professionals. Ive literally had to stop going to certain beauticians because they have no idea how to apply a touch yp. They overlap pre relaxed areas. Using the wrong formula. Don’t keep their hair conditioned, trimmed, and protected. Over heat their hair. Apply things like color over the relaxer. There are people with severely damaged natural hair as well. All hair types require care and a willingness to learn.

I had 27 inches of long THICK relaxed hair and bleached blonde at that! Ive been natural for atleast 10 yrs….everyone has different hair needs. We are different and so is our hair. Some people just didnt take care of their relaxed hair.

Courtney Sanford You’re right. My hair got very long with a relaxer and looked great for a few years , however that was ONLY when I started going to the Dominican salon. Even that took a serious toll on my hair after a while. My hair became so thin , that I had no choice but to return natural. On my worst days , dealing with my natural hair , I still have zero desire to relax ever again!!!

My mom told me once whenever I don’t have something nice to say, just shut my pipe hole
