These braided do’s are just awesome to look at from an artistic and creative level, but, to wear them is a different story..they look tight and uncomfortable. Our hair isn’t fiber..you shouldn’t twist, pull or bind it like you’re weaving a basket. It is a living part of our body. It needs circulation, freedom to move, nourishment, and cleanliness just like every other part of us. Braids should be loose and undone often..left in too long the scalp becomes stressed and the hair pulls away. The same for any fixed do..weaves, buns, locs..our hair needs to move, our scalps need air to breathe. I tell my granddaughter that it has life…it holds electricity and will stand on it’s own, it has bounce, substance and texture. It is energy.
