There’s two options for washing my hair, clarifying or co-washing. If I feel that my scalp is dirty and I really need that reset I clarify, if not I co-wash. I use a non- sulfate cleanser to clarify my hair Ex: Dr.bronners which I dilute with water, and V05 Strawberries and Creme conditioner for co-washing. I’ve learned to listen to my hair so if I need to deep condition after that’s the next step, which would be a simple DIY such avocado, aloe vera juice*. coconut milk, and olive oil*.
Now i’m ready to style. So after deep conditioning* my hair it’s still in nice and neat sections. I take my V05 Strawberries and Creme conditioner and use it as a leave in. I apply a nickel sized amount to each section. Then I apply a dime sized amount of my whipped shea butter* to each section. Last I apply my homemade flaxseed gel as a styler. I shake my head around to separate my curls a bit and i’m done! This regimen keeps my hair soft and my curls popping! I maintain this style by sleeping on a satin pillow case.
Are you happy with your progress so far?
I’m very happy with my progress so far I’ve retained a great amount of length despite my setback and my curls are going strong.
What is your signature style?
At first when I went natural I was all about the twist out, but now i’m in love with my wash and go.
How do you ensure that your ends are protected from the elements and your hands?
I keep my hands out of my hair once I finish styling to avoid frizz. Also I don’t over manipulate my hair and try to make my styles last as long as possible. I protect my hair from the elements by doing the occasional protective styles. Such a buns, puffs, and twist under turbans.
Do you have a goal length or are you more concerned about the health of your hair?
I don’t really have a specific goal length at a specific time. I simply want to keep retaining length and I know I can only do this by nurturing my hair, body and soul. I’ve always thought long was beautiful, but I when I see girls rocking the cute short fro I find it just as stunning.
Is there anything that you hair hates?
My hair hates yellow shea butter, coconut oil*, Africas Best herbal oil, sulfate shampoos, Herbal Essence gels, fine tooth combs, satin bonnets*, and HEAT
Do you have any favorite products?
Homemade Flaxseed Gel, Whipped Shea butter*, and V05 Strawberries and Creme conditioner.
