Introduce yourself . . .
My name is Rajeana (regina) and I am 20 years old. I go to community college of Denver and I live in Denver, Co , which is 5280 miles above sea level and its really dry here. I have been on my hair care jouney for 7 months now. I started my hair journey May 1, 2013
Are you relaxed, natural, texturized or texlaxed?
I’m texlaxed as of now.
What’s your story, how did you get to where you are?
I use to relax but after a while my hair would tangle and break easily. Everytime I would get to a certain length and think it was getting healthy, it would slowly start to break, dry out and end up at ear length time and time again.
I just couldn’t figure out what to do to keep it soft, long and manageable. So I started my hunt “how to get dry, damaged 4A to grow long” and I found so many results thanks to YouTube.
So 7 months ago I trimmed some of my dry, damaged relaxed ends and started to texlax every 3-3.5 months. I tried transitioning to natural and hated it. Natural really isn’t my forte but I do love texlaxed hair.
What is your typical weekly regimen?
I co-wash weekly, Moisturized and seal with 3 oils*: castor oil*, coconut oil*, and olive oil*. I wash my hair with shampoo only twice a month.
Are you happy with your progress so far?
Yes, I have seen a lot of progress. My hair has gotten thicker and longer 8 months ago I was ear length and that not every where. Now 7 months I can see my hair is thicker thanks to texlaxing the spots that were shorter than the rest is catching up and I have gotten comfortable with trimming the relaxed end off every time I get a tex-lax.
What’s your signature style?
The bantu knot is my signature style. My hair is now touching the base of my neck which is shocking but it isn’t ready to be pulled into a ponytail, so I don’t force it.(plus I hate the little ponytail look) but I will rock the bantu knots
How do you ensure that your ends are protected from the elements and your hands?
For the last 6-7 months I have been doing kinky* twist and braids. sometimes wigs* but I personally like braids. I moisturize with water oil and leave conditioner or I have an oil container with a point and go through my hair row by row.
Do you have a goal length or are you more concerned about the health of your hair?
Right now I’m more concerned with the health of my hair. I learned from youtubers with health comes length. But my hair length goal is mid-back length, long but not too long.
Is there anything that you hair hates?
My hair has a problem with protein. I can moisturize and seal for weeks but as soon as I do a protein treatment it seems to get dry. Which makes me end up doing a GHE.
Do you have any favorite hair products?
I love the line ORS. it works really well with my hair. I’m between a 4b and 4c hair type. Since I have been using ORS hair products I can see my hair flourishing.

What is texlaxed? Is that another word for texturizer?
Lashawna Roe says
Yes…it is done in the same way as a relaxer; however, you would purposely under-process in order to gently loosen the curl and make the hair more manageable without fully straightening it.
Tammie Faulkner Taylor says
I love being texlaxed too!
Dephney Khayil says
What is a GHE?
Queenie Vesey says
When you leave a perm in your head just enough to loosen your natural hair but not long enough to straighten it.
Ash Taylor says
It’s a weak perm. I guess…

So if I telaxed my hair would I still be considered natural?
Benita Always'wins says
So she’s not natural???

No because texturizers contain chemicals like relaxers do.
Terri Moore says

That defeats the word natural so are “texlaxed” girls still consider natural ? Im curious
Chrisie Burgess says
It wouldn’t be considered natural because its sorta kinda still a relaxer …. semi processed organic products wouldnt still be considered organic now would it?
