My name is Leila Aigbedion, I am 22 years old and live in the Netherlands.
Are you relaxed, natural, texturized or texlaxed?
I went from relaxed to all natural.
What’s your story how did you get to where you are?
Over six months ago I decided to go all natural. Before that decision I did weaves* because I needed to grow out the relaxer and after 4-5 months I cut the relaxer tips from my hair.
Right now I am still trying to find out what natural products works best for me. So far I am giving my hair all the attention and care it needs. My hair was breaking very badly at the beginning of my natural journey, but now I hardly see any loose hair when I comb it.
What is your typical weekly regimen?
This is what I normally do to care for my natural hair but of course I have to adjust it based on the style I’m wearing or issues that may come up with my hair.
1. Pre-shampoo/ prepoo.
2. Shampoo every 2 weeks.
3. Deep condition after EVERY shampoo.
4. Detangle and air dry hair in large braids.
5. Style hair- mostly protective styles during the work week, loose styles on the weekend.
6. Keep hair pinned up at night-braided, in ponytail etc.. and use a satin scarf or pillowcase.
7. Repeat after 2 weeks.
* I use heat occasionally to semi-straighten my hair out and trim, last year I did this 4 times.*
Are you happy with your progress so far?
Yes I AM SO SO HAPPY!! My hair has grown so fast in a very short amount of time!
What is your signature style?
I usually have a FRO with little braids or twist outs.
How do you ensure that your ends are protected from the elements and your hands?
I prevent damage to my ends by steaming and using the right comb.
Do you have a goal length or are you more concerned about the health of your hair?
My goal length is definitely shoulder length or even longer.
Is there anything your hair hates?
My hair hates the cold weather here in the Netherlands and the rain!
