Reversing your thyroid disease to grow full long hair
When you hear thyroid disease, it sounds like something that is incurable. But this issue is completely reversible when you take the right steps.
If you were diagnosed with hypothyroidism, then it’s important that you avoid soy. This is known to cause issues for people with this condition.
When you consume products that contain soy, it can hinder absorption of thyroid hormones. It’s also recommended that you don’t consume soy if you are borderline, meaning you have a thyroid that’s a little bit underactive.
Whether you have hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, it’s recommended that you not take iodine supplements*. The way it reacts in one person may be different than in the next. In most cases, it will either cause your thyroid to produce too much or not enough hormone.
If you’re considering taking thyroid hormone supplements*, be wary that many are known to cause the very thing you’re trying to prevent — hair loss. This side effect itself makes this option a no-go for me.
Kelp, which does contain iodine, is considered an excellent choice for combating thyroid imbalance. It is actually known to help regulate your thyroid glands. It is also filled with minerals and vitamins that promote healthy hair and nails. However, you have to be careful that you take the daily recommended dose, which is between 158 and 175 micrograms.
You’ll find kelp supplements* on the market that are as high as 500mg, which should be avoided. Taking these could cause an overload of iodine, which could cause the same issues of a hyperthyroid.
So more isn’t always better in this case. The best way to consume kelp is to consume it as a food. You can purchase it in powder form and add it to your smoothies.
Creating a seaweed blend for healthy hair growth
The great thing about seaweeds is that they have everything your body needs, not just your thyroids. Having an overall healthy body is the key to healthy hair.
By consuming seaweeds like Irish moss, bladderwrack, kelp and dulse, you can maintain optimum health. For instance, just by combining bladderwrack with Irish moss, you can obtain 92 of the 102 minerals that your body needs.
Add in kelp and you have yourself a seaweed blend that is super nutritious for your hair, skin, nails, thyroid and overall body.
Simply mix together equal portions of each seaweed.
There are two ways you can consume this seaweed blend — as a tea or inside of a smoothie. If you’re not fond of the taste, I’d recommend that you put it inside of your fruit or vegetable smoothies. You can also add it to the fruits and veggies that you juice. All that needs to be added daily is 1/2 tablespoon of your blend.
Suffering from hair loss, stunted growth and thinning can make any natural want to pull her hair out; but by knowing how to pinpoint issues and resolve them can make you feel more in control.Hopefully, this information will empower you to take matters into your own hands to improve your thyroid health.
