The Q-Redew* hand held steamer is the newest craze in the natural hair community, for one the company has been doing a huge push on promotion by sending the product to key You Tubers for review which always creates a bit of a buzz.
We all know the value of the YouTube voice and so do our favorite manufacturers so in a sense it can be hard to make a decision on a product if the person giving the review is only saying it is great out of obligation. Most of the time we have to really just trust the reviewer.
But when Vee (pictured above) did her video I was sold, because not only have her reviews been a definite hit for me in the past, but she is truly honest about her hair and what she uses on it. Vee used the hand held steamer on her type 4 hair to see if it was as hydrating as the product description boasts.
Here is what the company has to say:
The Q-Redew handheld hair steamer* uses warm steam as mist to enhance your hair’s natural volume and texture. The Q-Redew* hydrates, reshapes and restyles dry hair in minutes. No mess, no fuss, no chemicals – just water
Here is why I believe them:
Water IS the best moisturizer
Water is the best refresher for your hair, we often mist our hair in the morning to bring it to life so it is no stretch that a product utilizing water in this manner will be very beneficial.
Steam DOES hydrate your curls
There is something about steaming your hair that gets it going. If you have ever used an over head steamer* then you know just what I mean.
It is convenient
Dry hair after a work out, dry hair in the morning, restyling an old style are all times when you will need a quick burst of energy from your hair so you can manipulate it to do what you need it to do. A hand held device makes that happen quickly.
Works for all hair types
Honestly this might be the best advantage of this convenient tool for women with tighter curls. For us sometimes we just do not want to drench our hair when it’s dry so it is sometimes hard to find a quick fix to hydration. With that said the tool is able to get through thick dense hair with ease.
Why we might think is a little iffy
If you have long thick hair you might have to fill the little bucket thing up a few times to get your whole head done. When you watch Vee’s demonstration you will see exactly what I mean, this is just a matter of how lazy you are though. Some women might not mind at all especially if the results are beneficial.
Donna Jones I want one!

I want one
I have one and love it!!!
It looks nice for but $70 I can buy one on wheels and sit down in comfort to steam my hair
Where do I get this steamer ? I need it bad !
I agree Jackie Vincent. I have a huetiful hair steamer and it only costed $20 extra when I bought it. I would rather sit down under it than have to use my arm; it already is worn out from using my blow dryer.
Curly Dew – Natural Beauty by Erica here on FB
has them but u may have to message her.
Need one!
That is so cool, I need to grow out more first before I buy one.
Vee you’re featured…The HodgePodge Files…YAY!
I steam my hair over the stove, dangerous but it allowed my conditioner to penetrate and stay in my hair. That was a great hair week.
I don’t get how this would help locs???
I bought a mini travel steamer from Bed, Bath and Beyond for $16. It works well for steaming my hair; I use it once or twice a week. I use tap water, lightly steam, seal, and then wear a plastic cap for a few hours or overnight. My hair is so soft after this process. Because I keep my hair so moisturized, I have great length retention. My hair is BSL after on three years natural!
