The spray bottle
This hack will work on any length hair. Take an empty spray bottle with a good nozzle. You want one that sprays out in a mist instead of a straight line. Make sure the bottle is clean and dry inside.
Choose any oil or water based moisturizer you like. Make sure it is thin enough to be sprayed from the bottle. A creamy or heavier moisturizer won’t work for this hack. Add your oil to the spray bottle and lightly mist your hair. After misting, take your hands and gently work the oil into your hair and voila!
This method can be used in the morning or at night because you can control how much oil or moisturizer you add to your hair.
The finger massage
I’d suggest using this method for a nighttime lazy girl’s routine. The finger massage moisturizing method works best when you use an oil to moisturize your hair. For instance, coconut oil* or olive oil* will both work well because they are heavier than something like jojoba oil*.
You want an oil with a little weight to it because you don’t want it running down onto your skin. A heavier moisturizer may be harder to control and keep concentrated on your scalp. You may end up with too much of it on your hair strands which could weigh down your hair.
Let’s go with olive oil* for the sake of this example. Take your olive oil* and add it to a flat surface. You could use the counter top, a lid from another hair product, the sink or a disposable plate. Just make sure the surface is flat.
Take your hands and make a claw. With your fingertips, dip into the olive oil* and saturate the tips of your fingers on both hands up to about your knuckle or as close to it as possible.
Lift your hand and let any excess oil drip back onto the flat surface. Then take your hands and make that same claw shape with them. Place your oily fingertips on either side of your head and press them against your scalp. Starting at your forehead, you want to run your fingertips over your scalp to the nape of your neck. You can repeat these steps as many or as few times as you want.
This will give you a quick bit of moisture and a mini scalp massage all in one. Although these hacks do work, they will not replace a full on moisturizing regimen.
Your hair needs to be consistently moisturized, but sometimes other life priorities take precedence. In those instances, take full advantage of the hacks mentioned above. Just be sure to go back to your regularly scheduled moisturizing techniques as soon as possible.
