We have all had those moments when we have a really bad scalp issues for what ever reason. During the winter time dry scalp and dry skin can be very common for most of us, I know first hand.
If you have winter dry scalp flare ups there are a number of things you can take to help. You will need something to heal the scalp that might be in the form of a medicated shampoo or just something as simple as an ACV rinse. If you have Winter dry scalp here are some fixes:
1. You can definitely talk with your dermatologist.
We always start with a dermatologist, because at the end of the day your flare up could be caused from something more than just dry Winter air.
The dermatologist can determine that and prescribe something to suit your needs directly. Follow your doctors instructions to see if what he prescribes can help.
2. Try an oil treatment. Adding an oil to your everyday hair routine can make a difference
My dermatologist specifically suggested Extra Virgin Olive Oil* for my scalp. She said to apply the oil all over my scalp after washing my hair, massage it in, let it sit for longer than 30 minutes, and rinse it out.
The oil also helps to protect the hair from harsh shampoos like dandruff shampoos that can strip the hair when you are using it.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar* Rinse
ACV has a cleansing effect on the scalp and the treatment has been around for years. It is also very gentle and will not strip your hair like a harsh shampoo.
All you have to do is fill a spray bottle with one part ACV and one part water and spray it directly on the scalp, massage it in, and let it sit for 30 minutes then wash it out. This removes any product from your hair as well, build up on your scalp and gives your hair great shine.
Do not forget to deep condition afterwards. What are your methods for getting rid of Winter dry scalp?
